Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

Interesting that they're trying to prove that our owner is funding us outside of FFP rules yet Chelsea never get mentioned. Chelsea's model is different to ours in that RA put money in directly, as a loan, until FFP kicked in, when he converted his loan to equity. So, in theory, Chelsea didn't owe him that money any more. But he moved the debt to a holding company, controlled by his own companies, and that company appears to lend money to Chelsea.

Can we have a German company sponsor for the stadium naming rights also for the next 10 years worth half a billion ?
Reminds me of financial deals between UK and German armaments companies I think it was Vickers and Krupps that were invoiced and paid during the first world war.
Each shell used by both countries had a value for each company.

Have you seen the emails allegedly hacked? Have you seen the content?

You must agree that Der Spiegle or any media outlet could take said content, select the parts they want and then report it however they feel sells the best.

If they have these emails, why are they not publishing the full email.

They have done this now, by the way. Zero chance the emails are fake or made up as some people tried to argue yesterday.

The emails are real, the accusations of what we did are probably true, the important thing, and where the club will be fighting this presumably is (1) That the data was stolen so you can't do anything with it (2) That UEFA can't go back to punish us again over already settled stuff or (3) That most of this stuff was not or is not specifically illegal and that we're just exploiting loopholes.

Plus there's always the backup position of (4) FFP is illegal anyway so ban us and see what happens.

I never said the emails were made up. I said if you offer zero context and select what you use, then you can make the most innocent things look how you want them to look.

Nothing will happen, I agree.

Real or not it pre our punishment so they are ALL irrelevant.

Whether we get punished or not, these der Spiegel stories and the released emails are definitely relevant, they've done a significant amount of PR damage to the club, and put an a lot of pressure on UEFA to do something.

I wouldn't be surprised if these emails end up being the thing that breaks FFP, after UEFA is pushed into doing something and we decide enough is enough.

Might just be wishful thinking though.

Agree they damage us but bowt become of them regarding ffp we did the deal we for punished all wiped clean anything after that to do with ffp if they have evidence we broke the rules we fair game! I have the feeling we bent the rules not broke the rules and if uefa punish us again because of peer pressure it say a lot about them.

Always baffled me as to how that is perceived as acceptable. Is it Fordstam who 'own' the debt that Chelsea owe Abramovic? At least with Man U the debt is genuine and they pay interest on it.

I think that depends a lot on the wording of the agreement between UEFA and City in 2014.

It might be that a line was drawn under everything, or it might be that they discovered some incidents of wrongdoing and those were punished without wiping clean everything else.

I don't think anyone except City and UEFA know the full specifics and wording of that deal. I'm sure City's lawyers would have pushed incredibly hard for wiping the slate clean, but AFAIK everyone saying that's the case that they can't go back to pre-2014 is just assuming it and doesn't know for certain.

Unless Der Spiegel show the emails around the ones, that they have chosen to highlight, that highlight the context of the email in a conversation, they are pretty much meaningless. Damaging yes, but insufficient to mount a disciplinary challenge to MCFC by UEFA or the FA.
As they haven't shown the conversation, it would suggest that the context of these other emails diminishes the effect of the out of context emails chosen by Der Speiegel journalists for their story.
Indeed as a lot of this is a rehash of work in November, it would suggest they are literally "flogging a dead horse" to try and get it to run.
