Cardiff.
Correct! In the 1928/9 season they were relegated after conceding only 59 goals, 3 less than champions Sheffield Wednesday, 9 less than runners-up Leicester, 22 less than Villa in third and 40 less than Bury who went down with them
They must have been exciting to watch that season! If they only conceded 59 yet were still relegated they must have scored a comparatively smaller number of goals themselves.

Guess! so they went down as best defence, didn't we go down as top scorers?

'In 1957-58, Manchester City scored 104 goals and conceded 100 in Division 1, the only occasion that a club has both scored and conceded 100 goals in a league season.' typical City! As far as Cardiff in 28/9 is concerned, they scored 43 - exactly half of the champions Wednesday's total and the same as us in 2005/6 under Pearce. The next season under him we only managed 29. Happy days.
