Who were the first team to go out on the away goals rule in a European game …?

HMHB were correct. Dukla Prague’s exit at the hands on Honved in the 1965-66 Cup Winners’ Cup was the first time the newly introduced away goals rule was used.

If Reading is the answer, it much be pretty much the last City record still standing from pre Guardiola days.

Although thinking about it, the useless fucker still hasn’t managed double figures at home yet either, unlike the great Mel of the Machin.
