Footballing priorities for City in the next batch of games

No one mentioning kovatic . I think he’s very underrated and could make a big difference to the side . Playing tonight for Croatia
How can he play for Croatia when he hasn't kicked a ball for us this season?

I fucking hate international football and it's stupid rules.

Ait Nouri isn't coming back into the team just because we spent £30m on him. At the end of the day, O'Reilly has shown himself to arguably be more of a competent fullback in this team than Rayan has and until Rayan can prove otherwise, Nico should not be dropped.

I think Cherki could be a gamechanger. We need more creativity and goals and I think putting him on the right wing will free up Foden and Tijani even more..

Doku as far as I am concerned has the left wing nailed down, and neither Marmoush or Savio should displace him there unless for rotation.

I think once Marmoush is fit, you will see Haaland rested in a few games and we will go to a false 9 system in some of the "easier" games.
I don’t agree with you about Aït-Nouri. I thought he was very good in the games he played.

However, I do agree that Rayan shouldn’t walk straight back into the team, as Nico has done very little wrong as a stand-in.

He’s been brilliant, in fact. The lad has so much potential.

To be fair the way we defend at the moment, I do not think we have a lot of 1-0 results in us, the way it is looking it will be us winning by a big margin, or taking the lead then panic sets in and a draw or a narrow defeat
Tbf i think your "panic sets in" line refers more to your mindset whilst watching the game rather than our still elite squad, liberally sprinkled with serial winners, who've proven their mental fortitude over a long period of time. We may well lose or draw the odd game here and there by a narrow margin after being ahead but that'll be down to circumstances not panic.

In a serious answer to the thread, I think one of the key issues that needs currently sorting is right wing and once we get someone grasping that shirt and performing we should be rocking.

Bobb, Savio and now with Cherki fit, there’s no reason one of them shouldn’t be what we are looking for.
Message to Pep. Do not move Phil away from the middle to accommodate Cherki. Play Cherki on the right.

Yep, hence why I didn’t list Phil (or Bernie….) as options that should be used that side.

Fingers crossed.

I think we're all now hoping to see consistency from City, and the results, rather than this perceived flip-flopping.

We have some very winnable games, and some games we must win, to prove ourselves. Villarreal and Dortmund have become must wins already if we want to avoid an extra knock out game. Bournemouth and Everton represent chances to show our credentials at home. The dippers, I imagine they'll have recovered somewhat by then but no reason why a city that is on the up can't get three points against them.

This team needs confidence and goals to help our growth, to validate their work and approach. The Carabao can actually provide that too as a wembley final is special even for moose fizz in a can, and should act as a huge incentive.

Concerns would be if we fail to make our superiority pay and drop points, and of course injuries. I don't see many games there where Pep doesn't utilise a core 14/15 to help gather that momentum.

If Cherki comes back in and can find a few assists and goals, I do feel like that is when everything will just click as it adds something to us that, Foden aside, we don't really have, or at least could do with much more of. I'd almost put Savinho in that category too, but ultimately it demands that whoever starts produces much more consistently.

We're much more solid defensively I feel, so we'll be harder to beat or snatch points away from, and so it will all come down to how we create and deal with our own chances. That means decisive actions, connecting on the pitch, and bloody shooting a bit more often.

If everything lines up we could be sitting very pretty by December, but as always can only afford to look at the the next game as you build nothing with just wishes.

What a fanny thread.

Every game, win.

The rest is speculative bollocks.
Speculation is what fans do. The season is being broken into little chunks by the WCQ and this season City are experiencing more change than is usual after a lot of new signings over the last 2 windows.

Having the majority of fans onside and behind them whilst we get back up to speed. So, no booing the players, creating Pep needs to go Youtube clickbait shit but most importantly the passion from the fans we saw recently, especially when we go 0-1 down. We should be lifting them when they cant lift themselves (I know, shock! Modern players cant lift themselves sometimes - sack them) but tbh thats what the fans are for. 12th man an all that.

As far as the players go... Just keep learning the methods and positions and trust their team players, build that confidence in ourselves as a team. The rest will come.

unfollowd all them YT accounts in recent weeks bar 1. All wanting to become Arsehole Fan TV

The only thing that matters, and I mean the only thing, is that Pep and Foden explain to bluestevei why they weren’t at Hatton’s funeral.

Anything else is just poppycock.

The main thing is the direction of travel seems positive.
I don't know if we are ready to put a huge run in but the teams engine seems to be ticking over nicely and a few moments of individual brilliance from Bobb, Cherki etc would be a great next step.
