Anyone remember Kevin Bonds screamer from 35 yards in the cup. Think we won 5 or 6 nil, can't remember who against, possibly Norwich? Memory banks failing.

I think this is the goal he scored vs Everton. I dont think he scored against Norwich in the 6-0. In fact i dont think he joined us until the summer after the cup final.

I remember Bond scoring a cracker against Everton. We were 0-1 down at MR and when he got the ball he gots loads of abuse from the Kippax, then he smacked the ball right into the top corner past Southall and all the abusers were then (jokingly) saying "Kevin Bond, what a player"

Trevor Francis v Wolves at Maine Road december 1981,a volley from about 40 yards out,

Yep, I;ve always said it was the best Ive ever seen, unfort never been seen on film...big Joe goal kick, Caton headed it over the halfway line, and trev turned and half volleyed it into the bott corner..I seem to remember it travellin a couple of feet off the ground all the way from 40yds+...unbelievable strike...and it put us top of the league..!

Goater goal was away at Gillingham a few short weeks before we played them at Wemberlee
I remember thinking on the day of the final: 'This should be quite straightforward, we pissed all over them at theirs a few weeks back'

no it wasnt ... the goater goal was in the kk promotion season. we drew 0-0 with gillingham in the year we played them at wemberlee

We might've drawn with Gillingham 0-0 that season at home, but away we won 2-0, with goals from Terry Cooke and Kevin Horlock.

Granted I've not seen many City game in the flesh (around 10 or so) but easily the best goal I've seen in those, or any game for that matter is Elano's free kick against Newcastle in 2007-08. To call it a good goal would be an understatement. Went like a rocket into the very top, top corner. Unstoppable. Was Shay in goal that day, or was it Steve Harper?

With regard to three of the goals mentioned.

1) The Jim Melrose goal remains the gretest I have ever seen. Chested down in the centre circle, hit on the volley, with Melrose facing the Kippax and screamed in. Unfortunately, it was before the time of club videos, was never caught on film and is lost forever except in our memories

2) The Graham Baker chip at Spurs was a truly bizarre goal and I do know for a fact it was on the Big Match as that is how I saw it. Despite the masses of BBC and ITV recoreded goals that we see from the era, this one has never been seen since. I get the feeling that sadly the recording of this game has been lost or burned in an ITV fire.

3) The Trevor Francis screamer against Wolves was captured by BBC or ITV news footage and I have seen it again since. However I cannot for the life of me remember where or when that was. There is hope that it's still out there though.
