For the Hughes fans

Just out of interest has MH made any tactical substitions that have changed the result for us?

Not a Hughes out question.
He don't fill me with confidence. I wouldn't shed a tear if he got sacked come Summer, but yeah, he's got near enough a whole new team in two transfer windows. Not exactly tactical within 90 minutes, but still, he got us a whole new defensive outlook with Zab, Komps and De Jong. Probably not answered your question about making a sub (apart from Studge at Blackburn maybe)

Anyone care to explain how when you are 1 down you bring on another defender ( I use the tern loosely for that Fitzroy Simpson clone) when you have 3 defensive midfield players on already. OK we lost a left back but surely Zaba to left back and bring on another forward. One down after 10 minutes shows a defensive team is not a way to be successful so why continue with it.

Get rid of Hughes ASAP.

TOP SUPPORTER. wanker..

watch the fuckin game . one defem
nder off and a defensive midfielser off. WHAT the fuck would you do genius....?

Idiot.

Arsenal are extremely good in midfield. You put an extra forward on and they'll just dick us. If he had put another forward on we'd have to go 4-4-2, meaning Robinho on the left and SWP on the right would have to play slightly deeper.

Spot on

Lazy attempt at blaming losing 1-0 to one of the best sides around on the manager.

Considering we had a top 10 team last term why does i take another £150m and a whole new team to be signed to finish exacly where we did last term, but hey thats progress lets get behind Hughes we're going in the right direction. Why question it just accept it we're doing great its just all about perspective

Because, amazingly, differnet managers have different philisophies on how to contruct a team. Not only that but we now ahve very differnet goals from last season.

Spot on mate. We had a different style of play last year with a totally different manager, plus we only got top 10 last year because of the start we made not the last half of the season. We've also missed out on the form of last years better players, Petrov and Elano (at least in the first half of the season) woul've walked into most of the top 6 teams in the prem. Do people not realise that £56 million of that '£100 million' we spent was on Robinho, Jo and Tal Ben Haim, 2 of which we dont have at the club at the moment. Robbie's not worth £32.5 million pounds and never will do. He never asked to be the 32.5 million pound man and his game has not lived up to that attrocious amount of money payed for him. Would Kaka ACTUALLY PERFORM like he's worth £100million. No.... because no one is worth that much.
The majority of the money hughes has spent has imo been money extremely well spent. Kompany, Zab, De Jong, Sweep, Bridge, Bellers. These are all players who have improved our team and i think it is silly to dismiss what hughes has done for this team. Its the bigger players lack of form that has let us down not hughes' tactical faults. I will admit there have been a few doozies, like fernandes today, but elano didnt look much better coming on so fair doos to the guy. I jusy wish some 'city fans' would see sense and realise that chpping and changing managers is not the way to win big in this league. Chelsea havnt since they ditched Mourinho and the top 6 (all bar Chelsea) have all had their managers for an amount of time that allows them to build a team. This is what we shoudl do with Sparky. We're in the 1/4 finals of the f***ing UEFA cup for f***s sake!

Daniel Sturridge at Blackburn. We scored 2 goals in the last 5 mins to scrape a draw. He was brought on as a sub, by Hughes....

Fair points well made! We can all see that we're not where we want to be at the moment but, with any new manager, you have to give him time to build a team. Hughes' signings have improved the squad but that won't necessarily turn us in to a great team just yet.

The UEFA Cup run has been really enjoyable and has given us some great trips to places we've been waiting for the opportunity to visit for decades (with hopefully more to follow), but it has also had a negative impact on our league form due to the amount of injuries we've picked up and games we've played.

When we do have key players missing we haven't yet got the depth in the squad to compensate and I don't expect Fernandes, Garrido, Ball, Benjani, Vassell, Hamann or Mills to be at the club next season.

We've just had 21 players away on international duty, more than any English club (which tells you that there is some quality in the squad), but it does nothing for the manager's preparation for today's game against a top 4 side.

I believe that not qualifying for the UEFA Cup next season will have a positive impact on our Prem form and it will also give us an opportunity to use some of our quality youth team players in the domestic cups, which has to be good for the club going forward.

We are bound to bring in more quality players in the close season so we've got to be optimistic about the future. As a blue in his 30s this is as good as I've known it so bring it on!
