Agreed. I wouldn't say either were close to forgotten but perhaps not given the credit they deserve.

I'd nominate Gareth Taylor. His late goal v top of the table Stoke just after Boxing Day in 1998 was the catalyst for our revival and push to the playoffs. The rest is history.
