Thought it was interesting to see the formation change at 3-0 tonight (when Savic came on).... Back three of Savic, Kompany, Lescott with Clichy and Richards deployed as wing backs

Good, attacking move by Mancini. Clichy and Richards have/had the energy tonight to get forward and back so it worked well.

The great thing is that with the adaptability of our squad, both formations plus many more were options to Mancini.

We are truly blessed with a fantastic world class squad now. I thought Lescott was great when he moved to LB. Still dont think he's world class as an individual as has been proven for England, but he's getting there. Very versatile. Didn't see too much of Savic today to see how he stacks up in the premier league.

Exactly right Lescott went to left back so he could get Savic on for a few minutes.Worked very well and a sensible move given the scoreline.

eh im with OP i definitely wasnt a back 4 like the first 60. At points Clichy was waaay up and other times it was Richards or Savic or both further up..

He switched Lescott to full back and pushed Clichy into midfield.

It was definitely 3 4 3 . We went to 442 when Nige came off then when Savic came on both Richards and Clichy moved up. I was up in the gods so had a perfect view of the formation and a long discussion about it with a few around me. What could be seen was that they both occasionally dropped back so we had 3, 4 or even 5 at the back when defending but they also both pushed up making a clear 3 at the back then 4 of MR, YT, GB and GC. The front three at this stage were Dzeko, Kun and Milner but it wasn't clear if they were set up as 2 up and one behind or 1 up with 2 behind. There wasn't enough play for it to be clear.

I thought we were most effective playing 442. We lost the midfield a bit when we went 343 but we were 3 - 0 up by then.

One thing for sure. Richards was great both at full back and wing back.

Took the edge off the night for me - 15 mins of Balo wouldn't have done us much harm. Unless he managed to get himself a red!

It was 3 to 4 at the back going forwards 5 at the back when we were defending. Lescott and Clichy took it in turns to drop into left back and go forward into left midfield. As long as one was covering the other had free licence and this worked well with good understanding.

Good time to try it out and all worked well apart from passing the ball across the back line, which was a bit innacurate and Hart's feckin stupid distribution

Thats what I thought at first but thinking about it, Clichy and Richards were probably playing as Wing Backs. Tbh I thought Komapny was going to push forward into midfield at first

Savic very clearly gestured to Micah to move forward, Micah gave him the thumbs up to indicate he'd got the message. Definitely 3 at the back.
