Anyone been ? Got a week with the family there in August. Any suggestions for things to do ? Got a couple of whiskey distilleries on the list to check out but can't overdo that one.

It's a beautiful little place ........ but it's so long since i was actually there it's probably changed beyond recognition , so i wouldn't know what's on offer there now .. other than the obvious mountain biking.

Loch Linnhe is on it's doorstep.

I was ha decade ago.No problems aside from the odd dickhead who wasnt particular partial to us English. We had a good weekend.

Got the sleeper train from Euston up there a couple of years ago. Didn't spend much time in Fort William as was visiting brother in law who lives on an island further south, just off Oban.

Didn't seem like there was much to do in Fort William itself, but Ben Nevis and Glencoe are on the doorstep and the world mountain bike championships were being held when we were there.

Nice day out would be a trip down the coast to Port Appin and take the ferry across to Lismore. Skye isn't far away either.

Apart from the whisky distilleries, it's all outdoorsy stuff so pack your walking boots (and waterproofs, although they haven't had much rain for months on the west coast apparently).

Got a couple of mates moved from glasgow up to fort william area. One lives just outside fort william on the banks of loch leven (Kinlochleven). His village is proper quaint, the post office is also the police station. The local baker and landlord are firemen, etc.

Are you driving up? If so, stop at The Drover's Inn, just at the top of Loch Lomond - great pub. Don't let the look of it from the outside put you off.

The drive through Glencoe is beautiful.
Oban is well worth a visit

Enjoy. If the weather is good, it's fantastic. Good luck with the midges- they can really be annoying little gits

Ben Nevis centre is right next door. The trip to the top in the cable cars is good. The steam train from Fort William to Malaig is also very nice, think you might have to beek in advance though.

If you fancy going a bit further North,The drive to Inverness is nice.
