Found this old article from Mark Ogden

Mancini and Khaldoon are good mates IIRC.

Whether we like it or not, this guy is probably our next manager.

I don't understand all of the Hughes Out posters who want to get rid of him now. We can bring in Mancini, Hiddink or whoever now or wait until summer until Mourinho is available. The guy deserves a season at least, otherwise what was the point of backing him for £200m and then sacking him before you get the returns on that?

If the returns don't come this season, and he finishes outside where he needs to, then get rid. Doing so now makes us look like fools, and worst of all, makes us look like we have a bunch of entirely impatient owners who talk a big game about patience and understanding football but are actually just idiots with a bit of cash who knee jerk react to a run of bad results.

I'm not saying that Hughes is the man for the job, but I do believe that the manager we really want isn't going to be available until the summer, so it is a silly idea to remove our current manager before then. He might even come good, you never know. What we do know, is that Hughes won't get us relegated and we there or thereabouts a European spot. If we don't hit the CL this year, then fine, it's still an improvement on last year. Dispose of Hughes and bring in Mourinho.

This period of time is a test of the Sheik and Khaldoon, and we are about to find out if our owners are as reactionary and impatient as some fans are, or have a bit of nouse and plan for the future. There is no benefit to us to getting rid of Hughes now, and only positives for keeping him until the summer.

If I had a choice of CL under Mancini now, and UEFA Cup under Hughes then Mourinho in the summer, I know what I would choose. You can't sack a manager if he gets us to the CL after coming in in January, so we would be cutting off our nose to spite our face.
Are you Mark Ogden?

To make the point some of us are thinking? I agree with him. I also think the bt thread, bbc bias, wio, keane, muen & other media threads taking notice/putting down the jealous clowns are all pointless. Falling to their level. I'd much rather we chatted about how we can make our great club even bigger & better than take notice of the enemy.
They do that on the OS. On here we discuss all things that relate to City, good, bad, praising or derogatory, if that's ok with you of course? Just stay off the "pointless" threads if beneath you.

I was young at the time but was Reid not sacked as we were in an awful slump?? Yes it was early in the season but hadn't he lost about 9 out of 14 or something?

Like every article regarding our owners this peice is littered with lazy almost xenophobic assumptions and stereotypes.

Not surprising really.

Ogden is just a Jezza Hunt.
So glad he's gone from the Telegraph.
The new guy. Sam Wallace, isn't too bad - not great but the articles don't have the snarl of hatred.

That's because Sam Wallace isn't a rag from Heywood. They're all the same from monkey town. (Rags that is, @stony will get on my case if I don't make that clear)

So will I ;-)

Heywood is Blue, always has been, always will be.

They (Rags) have one boozer where they all meet to watch them on the box, that is it!

the best thing the new owners did was sack mark hughes and bring in mancini

we was in a mess and the squad of players was fighting each other and the manager. we had too many players who was here just for money and the publicity it give Manchester city at the time. forget the results they was all over the place and we never looked like a team it was a team put together in a rush with no plan other than to put city on the map and give us a media lift. but in bringing in mancini he had the balls to build a first team squad and kick the players out who was here for just the money

plans was set and time was given to mancini to build his squad targets was set and meet F.C cup winners Premeir league winners champions league football so how can you not say the new owners was right in what they did

It was always 50/50 when I was at school. By the time my lad went to school it was more like 80/20 to them. There has however always been a larger proportion of match going blues from Heywood than rags.

Like I said mate, match going blues....Heywood is Blue and always will be ;-)

Never forget the day we got promotion at Blackburn and when we arrived back in Heywood it was like WW3 with the smacked arse rags who had been sat in the boozers all day in their favourite seats getting all shirty about what we had just done ;-)

Do they still close down Wetherspoons on derby day?

I expect the pubs in Heywood are of a type that I'm professionally familiar with, so if a time machine ever presents itself to me, forgive me if I put it to alternative use.

Grumpy old ****. I thought you liked the rougher variety of pubs, frequented by colourful local characters.
