But i just looked at the rules saying 'feinting' is allowed during run up, but not once run up is complete, so how do they define feinting (vs stopping) and when is the run up complete? presumably not until the ball is kicked? I don't see anything now mentioned about stopping, which is ridiculous.

I think the run up is surely complete at the point at which the non-kicking foot is planted. That’s the end of the last step before the kick.

I think the rule basically translates as “you can do whatever the fuck you want, up until you plant your non-kicking foot and then you have to kick the thing”

That would be my very technical interpretation.
