One of my favourite singers but sadly a case of what might have been.

Possibly one of the most naturally talented singers ever in my opinion, but a mix of bad management, naivety and poor decisions led to years of unknown and trouble for the kid.

Introduced to heroin at the age of 15 by a woman twice his age, 'seduced' into going solo by his manager and then discarded when his signature voice changed as he got older.

I'm not saying he was completely innocent and free of criticism, he did marry 3 women and not divorce a single one of them after all. But I feel that if he things had been different with regards to how he was handled at such a young age, 13, when he and the Teenagers came about, then he would be held in the same regard as the likes of Sinatra.

Even though he was a junkie, the biggest thing that turned people away was the change in his voice, which In my opinion was amazing throughout his short career. I honestly believe had he been given better support and advice from those he trusted, he would be seen as one of the greatest; in saying that though, he and the Teenagers influenced the likes of Michael Jackson and others.

Thanks for that buddie--very interesting. 'Why do fools fall in love' is a true classic.

Why do fools fall in love is a classic it's got the same ring to it as these two classics.

When Frankie died, a girl called Pearl McKinnon performed with the Teenagers. Here she is with the Kodoks (sometimes Kodaks). Oh Gee, Oh Gosh is one of my all time fave tunes, love the bass singing in this.
