Franny Lee The Chairman

2 if he had taken over in the nov and not the jan following year our manager would not
have been alan ball it would have been beckenbauer (check when he became manager of beyern)

If's and but's. Franny lee appointed alan ball because they were mates. Ball was a fucking terrible manager with a shocking managerial record

I'll always remember Frannie Lees interview the evening he steped down as Chairman on Granada Reports. He said something like 'I think I've left the club in a better state than when I took over'. Ironically in the background was maine road - where many of the lights had failed on the sign M NC ESTER C TY FC.

After the big Forward With Franny campaign.
Francis Lee won power at City and on that day my son was born. I got a bit carried away and called him Francis Lee.
My wife could do nothing, we had agreed before the birth if it was to be a girl her choice of name, a boy mine.

Francis Lee is now 15 and getting a band together!

Whoops.

I'll not view the past through rose-tinted glasses, in my view Alan Ball was a total c**t for what he did to my club. He was so out of his depth it was almost bloody comical to see.

I can almost see and hear the ginger midget with the voice that only dogs can hear: "I'm a World Cup winner, therefor I know more than you!"

Franny saved our club from oblivion. He was handed the wheel of the Titanic five minutes before it was due to hit the iceberg at full speed, and idiots still blame him for the hull damage.

He turned this club around after Swales's two decades of mismanagement and got us back on the road to the top. People will always associate him with the mad scramble for the lifeboats and ful scale panic, but he kept the ship intact and made sure we could repair the damage.

We've only just recovered from what Swales did to us.
I partly agree that Swales mismanaged the club, but the blame for bringing the worst professional manager in the history of the modern English game lays solely at his feet.

This is harsh. It's easy to slag off Ball but there are far worse managers out there (Brian Robson, anyone?) and we were relegated under Ball on goal difference. He actually had us playing some attractive football, particularly in the FA Cup game against the rags when we played them off the park until the ref handed them the worst penalty decision in FA Cup history.

Franny Lee turned our club around financially after Swales ran it into the ground. And that's a fact.

Worst Managers that Ball, what about Frank Clake !!!

The reason I think Clark was a better manager(not for us but in general), his record with other clubs wasn't bad, he brought Forest back into the top flight and then to 3rd, and he brought Leyton Orient out of Div 4(look up how many managers have done that!). Alan Ball was dreadful everywhere(other than Portsmouth, and there he was no better that average), now I don't think it was Alan Ball's fault, I'm sure given the chance, we would all like a crack at the job, the issue is that he was totally incompetent(and had proved himself as such during his career)thus the person that appointed him has to take all the blame.
