Really?!?!? Not like I've ever negotiated Football Transfers or anything, but does it really work this way? i.e. CAN ONLY DO LITERALLY ONE THING AT A TIME. And then, having gone from mutually exclusive thing A to mutually exclusive thing B, has to reset to square absolute one.

Not buying it. But if that is in fact so perhaps someone at City needs to rethink how things are done.

Obviously not budgeted to go for both though. Hence turning our attention to Mahrez as he was preferred

Completely wrong mate - Shakhtar will only let us do a deal in the summer and the club are fairly relaxed about that. It was just a punt to get him earlier - simply put it was a long shot to get him now, would have been different if they were in the EL not the CL. For me the club has played a blinder during the last two windows.
