Yeah I think the contract situation was just to get the release fee in there, they may have threatened sticking him on the bench (Potentially misses out on WC) if he didnt sign it. After he has signed it we have got the rumours of us making a bid and a supposed release clause so it all makes sense.
Surely he just signed a contract to get a minimum release clause put in, something he and the club would be happy with, probably around the £45m we're wiling to pay for him.
Anyway I think this is brilliant business, proper classy player who looks more than capable of playing in our midfield, was very good in both games against us.

There was this which was posted a few pages back although it could be a translation thing with him meaning the 5 year contract he signed in 2016? The Shakhtar website not having anything up yet could be due to their winter break.

I've looked at it. What I meant was that due to the winter break they might not have had a chance to do the photo shoot etc that usually go with a contract renewal. Unless the linked interview was a translation issue, it seems a strange thing for him to say if he hadn't signed a new deal.If you look at the Shakhtar website you'll see it's incredibly active and the winter break is not the reason nothing's up.
