Am I being ambitious if I think he might actually be a replacement for Delph as opposed to Toure? Left footed and very quick, with good passing and positional awareness. Possible LB/CDM combo?
Might be slightly biased because I’m dying for Weigl to come in and play that role.
Would be a great signing.I think Fabinho would be a great addition to our squad. Top class in DM and RB/WB.
Manchester City are interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, according to Sky sources.
City are understood to be looking at the 24-year-old Brazilian as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho, who turns 33 this year.
Having ended their interest in Alexis Sanchez, City now have more money to spend and could turn their attention to signing Fred in the January transfer window.
Sky Sports News understand that City may consider loaning Fred back to the Ukrainian side until the end of the season.
Pep Guardiola has used Fernandinho 34 times in all competitions already this season, starting the defensive midfielder in 22 of their 23 Premier League matches, and may be looking to Fred bolster their midfield options.
Yaya Toure has been a peripheral figure for City this season, making just five Premier League appearances, while Ilkay Gundogan has had persistent injury worries.
Why loan him back
Agree on Weigl, but dealing with Watzke isn't the most pleasing perspective. He would cost absurd money, hindering transfer activity on other targets. I'd take Fred for reasonable price.I agree. Even though Weigl has supposedly had a poor season at Dortmund, I think long-term he's got the most potential. Plus, it's likely that Fernandinho will still be first-choice for another season which would give Pep an extra year to get Weigl to where he needs to be.
If we bring in either Fred or Fabinho instead, they'll be used rotationally at LB and RB respectively in addition to deputizing for Fernandinho until 2019-20
