This would be fantastic if we could get him now. Prefer this to the Sanchez signing as I think its a more important hole to fill. Dinho is already on 30-odd games

Maybe it is possible, he's cup tied for the CL so we could rest Fernandinho for some league games. Evans is HG so he creates no issue - especially if Mangala leaves.
yes we have plenty of games to use him in. Would be great but I really cant see it happening until the summer.

This 'post-Neymar market' doesn't have to be a thing as long as clubs aren't stupid. Agents, players and selling clubs are spotting an opportunity to make a killing but there is still only so much money in the game and whilst PSG can go and drop 250m on one player, the majority of other clubs cannot, even with adjustments made for the fact those players aren't Neymar.

It is a thing and will continue to be a thing because transfer fees aren't plucked out of thin air, they're benchmarked against other completed deals. When Neymar moves for more than double the prior record that inflation cascades down to the rest of the market, as illustrated by Countinho, Dembele, and VVD. You're either competing for the best, most in demand, players or you aren't, and the next Countinho, Dembele, or VVD aren't going to go for less than the last unless a fundamental shift occurs. The market is the market.

The Neymar deal was an odd one in that it was PSG triggering a release clause - Barca wouldn’t have sold him in normal circumstances - so the buy out clause was triggered and under normal circumstances Neymar wouldn’t be expected to defect from La Liga to the French league - but clearly money clouded his judgement. It’s a real once in a decade type of deal you’d think but you can see PSG doing it again but equally I can see reality beckoning and Neymar heading off again with fistfuls of cash in his pockets. That Neymar deal has clearly distorted the market - the VVD fee and the Courtinho fee are both excessive and there are aftershocks in the transfer market. I fear that both United and Madrid will seek to do major rebuilds this summer - they both throw money around when they come up short - so the market may take another hammering this summer when they both bully clubs to sell assets they’d sooner not sell. Hopefully United burn a fortune on Ladyboy. People like United in particular have also allowed agents to hike up fees to crazy levels to push deals over the line. But of course we are the ones who are ruining football.

I get the feeling the club fear his fee continuing to rise the more various clubs become interested in him.

The one thing I wouldn’t do though is buy him and loan him. What if he has a serious injury?

I think from Fred’s point of view he will want to move now.

A good few months and a possible few trophies for City and he may make the Brazil World Cup squad.

Pool were wise enough to act swiftly and sign Naby Keita last summer on the same terms. Now they've got one of the world's best young mids. Was it a good deal? I think it was a masterstroke. The pool of top players is too small, not the best time for penny-pinching.
