Virus Alert, watched game today on the Vshare link, good quality and english coms, BUT I now have a virus, called startsear.ch if your address bar has startsear.ch you have it, giving you this warning on my wifes laptop as mine still has virus, if anybody knows how to get rid please let me know as I am still trawling the web for a cure, any way come on city, let,s put todays result behind us, and move on.

you more than likely got it from one of the adverts, if you inadvertantly clicked on one trying to close it...you wouldnt get malware from v-share mate

download superantispyware, install, update and run scan >>> <a class="postlink" href="http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/download/713a10052637fdd6afdcb10ff6c40462/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.filehippo.com/download_super ... ff6c40462/</a>

if that doesnt find it, download, install, update & run malwarebytes scan >>> <a class="postlink" href="http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/download/c4ad40bd8c9c8bb8547419e98b8861e4/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwa ... 98b8861e4/</a>

Cheers for the links, tried both, both found nothing, virus still at large, have viewed various forums which point to vshare being the culprit, I have also tried to delete manually with no joy, any other suggestions would be appreciated Shadygiz, cheers Halfwrecked

done a bit of a read up...do you use chrome by any chance mate...it would seem that this only affects people who use chrome and it was hidden as a v-share update on chrome. It was a fake.

if you know how to regedit, you can delete these registry entries

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PAV HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internetsettings ‘ProxyOverride’ = ”

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings ‘ProxyEnable’ = ’1′

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies \System\DisableTaskMgr

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AntiSolution

or follow this guide

How to Remove Startsear.ch Manually?

1) Boot your computer into Safe Mode with Networking:
Restart your computer >> As your computer restarts but before Windows launches, tap “F8″ key constantly >> Use the arrow keys to highlight the “Safe Mode with Networking” option and then press ENTER >> If you don’t get the Safe Mode with Networking option, please restart the computer again and keep tapping “F8″ key immediately.

2) Stop and remove Startsear.ch associated processes:
[random].exe

3) Detect and remove Startsear.ch related registry entries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\ HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PAV HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internetsettings ‘ProxyOverride’ = ”
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings ‘ProxyEnable’ = ’1′
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies \System\DisableTaskMgr
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AntiSolution

Hi Shadygiz, thanks for taking time to look up the problem, I do use chrome, I found the instructions you posted and tried yesterday, but to no avail, I did not find all the registry keys though, I will try again this evening when I finish work.
when I opened up my laptop this morning home pages on chrome, firefox and ie9 have all changed from startsearch to mystart, I will post late tonight if I have any success. cheers again Halfwrecked

its a chrome bug mate....obv some security issues with chrome mate....i would go back to IE or firefox until such time google can update the serious security loopholes

i asked around earlier and only chrome users had this issue....i use firefox and their security patches must be up to date as i have no issues with z-share mate
