Haye himself said it would be like that...he knew all he could do is grind him down over the fight. He did what he needed in the last round.

He had a plan, stuck to it and it worked out as he expected

I can only guess people calling it a shit fight wanted to see a gung-ho fight with a KO! It was a clever fight from Haye - dodged pretty much 99% of punches that came his way and picked off Valuev when the chances were there. In my opinion was a good fight to watch. Haye was never going to be on the front foot against a 7ft monster and his tactics were great!
 
Like you say, the last round was the pinnacle and the biggest 3 minutes of his life. Well done David I'm chuffed for you lad. I backed him all the way, fter 11 rounds I thought Valuev would nick it but that last round was great. Nice one.
 
Whilst Haye was the better on the night i didn't think 1 punch deserved the title. Awful fight, The Ruski is something out of a cartoon that looks like he just wants to bear hug you to death he can't box and then Haye pussied out and ran away for 11 rounds. (some say it was the sensible thing to do but does a world champion run away all fight?) Feel sorry for anybody that paid money to watch that garbage.
 
Landed 3x as many punches. Not sure how some had Valuev up. Forcing the issue is all well and good but if you are hitting air then it counts for nothing IMO. Glad the judges felt the same way.
