They are opening the kind of pubs that are viable in 2014.....Good quality and value. Real ales, good range of lagers and other drinks....adult only areas...pool tables and Sky Sports etc...yes, it may be a chain, but it's what works now.
It's the backstreet boozers dying a death (sadly, as I prefer them myself too) and becoming the next Bangladeshi/Pakistani salmonella/grooming joint. Or a Tesco Express....which is a whole new topic in itself....
Good luck with it. I used to live in one of the new houses near the Spring Inn so I guess you'll be competing with them and the Fairview, both tidy pubs but don't think they have Sky Sports so you're offering something different again. You would have loved the Spring Inn before all the new houses were built. It was a proper old fashioned pub ran by a great couple. It was then understandably refurbished and rebranded to attract the new clientele.
I recall The Spring Inn as it was before mate....cracking pub. Still good now, but prefer it as before....

The Britains Protection.
City centre old fashioned boozers like the magnificent Briton's, and The City, The Vine etc are the exception....they do well. It's the old 'locals' that are a dying breed...for various reasons. Sadly...
I was making a suggestion for the pub name.
