There's already a Starkey Arms in Heywood, which may be far enough away not to confuse the taxi drivers. I'm also one for historical/geographical connections. Are you going to be on the junction directly opposite Gordon Rigg's? Just wondering how far away from the canal you are. (Thought the original idea was to take over the Kingsway pub.)
 
How about "The Crabtree".Named after Arnold Crabtree a young man from Rochdale who joined up at the age of 19 and went on to become a ww1 hero as a sniper at the age of 21. You could put some pics around the place give it a theme. There's a book about him.
You may even get some stuff from the war museum. ??

Other than that" The Workhouse" as Rochdale was littered with them.
