Would you like to know what somebody suggested the other day? That I, an Anglo-Saxon agnostic atheist, had been read the Riot Act by the other mods and strongly hinted that somehow THE JEWS are now in control of the moderation team on a football forum. Then he called it "JewMoon" and said that all anti-Israel sentiment is being censored.

Now that is fucking funny.

True though.

Is it me, or are more and more threads being taken down on here? If so is it because posters are getting more vicious, or are the mods clamping down more on stuff that used to be left alone?

What I mean is, if an Israel thread leads to an argument, why not just delete the offensive posts and ban the poster? The threads are being moved, and then another one pops up until the same thing happens.

totally agree, most mods on here proberbly get bullied in real life and love the power/control. Bluemoon was a better place 6/7 years ago.

i posted a thread about fanzone danny a few weeks ago asking has he got too big for BM, yep it got deleted. Why? fuck knows

Feel free to meet me at any game, and you can attempt to bully me if you want

Just to add my own two penneth. Overall I daresay that moderating any discussion about Israel/Palestine is about as rewarding as trying to break up a fight between two rabid pitbulls.

However I do think more and more that moderators would make it MUCH easier on themselves if they didn't participate in the discussions themselves when they are contentious, and stuck to moderating. I realise that they are meant to be forum users first and moderators second, but in cases where the subject matter is as divisive as Israel/Palestine, makes sense that they leave their own personal beliefs at the door and simply keep the peace.

I don't think it's worth debating anything controversial on here any more so I shan't be bothering even attempting an opinion on anything more controversial than the flavour of crisps I prefer or how I can win £50 for being the last poster on a thread.
Yup, pretty depressing but the realisation has hit home in this thread.

Wrong way round mate. If I'm participating in something as contentious as the Gaza thread then I don't moderate. Otherwise I would lay myself open to accusations of moderating bias. This way, it's much easier and there can be no accusations of bias.

The bias isn't in you moderating, it's in you participating and getting away with posting things which non moderators wouldn't get away with, or at the very least would be bollocked for.

This isn't a new phenomenon on Bluemoon either and isn't exclusive to you. I won't name names, but other moderators, in other divisive subjects, have gotten away with things which non mods like myself have been banned for.

It's this part which grates the most. You're there to moderate, ergo if you're actively inflaming a thread then you shouldn't be a moderator.

It's not the subject but the manner of the debate that causes the problem. We've had our moments but I think that you and I have shown that it's possible to have completely diverging views but still have a fruitful and intelligent discussion, even it that becomes emotive. when it comes down to it, as I said, it's more important to me to remain friends than win or lose an argument and fall out over it. I also respect dazdon's views even if they are completely opposite to mine, because I feel they're genuinely held and have no malice behind them. I'd like to think we can go at it hammer and tongs then have a laugh together on another thread.

But we've seen that some, on both sides, have overstepped the mark and that's when threads or posts get pulled.

The problem is that your definition of debating is repeating the same thing over and over again and slagging off anyone who disagrees with you. That makes it difficult to have a proper debate.

Re: Freedom of speech

I'll actually answer a query from earlier in here because the fact that I didn't answer it has become a bit of "OMG PROOF! THEY GOT TO HIM!"

Firstly, most people who have the ability to use a calendar can see that July 4th to August 8th is not "1 week" as Crab Paste and others who quoted him somehow failed to spot. Secondly, I had a pop at Ducado because he made what I felt was a catch all response regarding a specific problem that was insulting to every user of this forum.

1 month ago, as you can see in the post that people are quoting, I said agreed immediately that anti-Semitic was on the rise. Recently it has become a level where I now deem it to be a problem. I also thought that Balotelli would be a world class striker, that we should have stuck with Hughes until the end of the season, that Rodwell would grow to be the new Yaya and that Dzeko should have been sold in 2011.

I have the right to change my opinion as new information presents itself over time and this sort of stuff is exactly what I mean. I've changed my opinion on numerous things over the years and nobody has ever had a problem with it. This one time though has presented itself where people suggest that "I must have been bullied into it". Nobody would suggest that I was bullied into the original opinion and changed it based on my own opinion, just the other way round. This is a good example of how prevalent anti-Semitic thought is in society with the stereotype of "powerful Jewish lobbies" that even on a football forum ran by a bunch of normal Manc lads, somebody can't change their opinion over the course of a month and an extra several thousand posts on the subject unless it was because of some shady backroom conspiracy.

For the record and to clear up any misunderstanding, nobody spoke to me about the post I made to Ducado. In fact nobody has ever spoken to me and told me not to post something or change my opinion on a subject in the entire time I have been on Bluemoon. Ric once asked me to drop a subject because I was offending pretty much the whole forum and had lost any objectivity to which I acquiesced because he was right, but it was a request and not a demand. I think this was about 3 years ago or so. A few times I have posted something where mods have vehemently disagreed with me but I have never been pressured to censor myself. Not even by THE JEWS!!11!

I hope that clears this up in a sensible way rather than alluding to some David Icke type conspiracy where I have been silenced by The Man.

you've just described me to a tee. I am very timid and easily bullied. in fact when I mod on here its like I'm wearing a superman suit and I can be something I could never be. tough, blunt and quick to fight my corner.

if only I could wear that suit in real life, there would be no need to come on here for my power trip.
I wish I was you robbo.

Don't laugh, we are all very timid and easily bullied, we have to have minders when we go to the match, for fear we might meet anyone from here!

I've met a few of you modly people (and even the big kahuna himself). And timid isn't the word that sprung to mind on those occasions.

many people do, many people do.

and as for the "I can come and bully someone at a game" comment I have spat my brew, do you know how daft that sounds??
