Even if Bernardo were signaling city he wanted that move now we’d see heavy movement on city already for a replacement

I don’t think that’s an issue as we were interested in him at some point. I don’t remember which, but of the “trusted” reporters did not deny we are or were interested, the wording was “have distanced themselves after…”. I don’t think it would be an issue because in two years he’d probably be at the very least one of our top 3 most important players
 
If I remember correctly Xavi also said no one passes on Barca in reference to Haaland...

yeah, when he was coming off his first contract with Ajax. Barcelona threw the kitchen sink at him to get him there. He's on par with Kev now even after taking a paycut, we wont be matching that. We can prob sell him on the project but gotta think we'd have started the ball on it if he was a top target.
