We used to get paid by cheque on Friday and pub would cash them obviously knowing he was going to get lots of the money back

Monday afternoon had a borrow off the pub landlord, spent it all in the pub and then gave him the cash back on payday…..

My first job leaving school we used to finish Fridays at noon for the week as was so yeah, straight to the pub, and not infrequently it'd turn into a whole day session. Oh to be young and without responsibilities.

The 90s was great for this where we worked. Pub right next door to the office (Nags Head - not ran by that rag twat back then). Hour and half in there, back to ‘work’ then an hour later back to the pub.

Oh to be young again.

no but I do finish at 3:30pm on a friday so have a few in town before home, lone wolfing it mind, I work with the staff all week why the fuck would I want to go out with them as by friday I need a rest from the twats

Worked in building game in the 70’s…..wages from gaffer in brown envelope at 12.00, straight to pub and afternoon strippers…….

Pass the hat round territory. Used to be a few establishments in Gorton that provided that type of hospitality with the entertainers going pub to pub on payday afternoons. Sort of ‘I’ve been married a long time‘ tax deduction on the household budget.

I will point out I spent 1998-2006 either drinking on duty or spending split shifts in the nearest pub with the other chefs before the evening service
