Actually, it's not that bad an idea. I think our kit would look ace in a bright scarlet red. The blue is beginning to look a bit dated and tired, to be honest.

You are joking aren't you? mind you living in Mayo you could blend in with the natives in a red shirt.
Predominantly green, actually!

;-)

And yes; I do get your point re. the plastics all around here.

And I'm deadly serious. Red would look really, really cool. Blue is so ''last decade'', don't you think? Plus it would upset the quiet neighbours, so it's a win win!

Id love it. Even if it was just for a season as it would really freshen things up.

At last; someone who sees the bigger picture! I know there must be more of you good people out there who secretly agree with me but are afraid to stick your heads above the parapet. Be brave fellow blues, sorry, reds.

What are the colours of UAE National side? We should change to that first.

I hope Cardiff's owners get slated like ours would. They've changed the identity of the club for marketing. Isn't that what the average football fan calls "selling your soul"?

soul crew gone too then?

I was listening to this on Radio 5 Live before and their CEO basically said that the money talked and if they didnt change it was goodbye to the investment.

That in itself is fair enough from the CEO but what kind of owner or investor puts those conditions on the fans like that?

At a recent supporters club meeting, Gary James revealed that Khaldoon had a meeting with him when ADUG first came in and he wanted to know all about the history and tradition of the club. As a matter of fact Khaldoon was the only chairman to have done that. Our owners are VERY much in tune with our history and tradition and lets face it, sky blue hasn't been the luckiest colour so on that basis, if they had suggested we played in pink with yellow spots I'm not sure we could have said no. But our owners have heart and soul and understand all about City. So if they, piling billions into the club can do that, why can't some two bit new money billy big boots malaysian not have the same respect?

IT disgusts me, quite frankly.

Khaldoon did meet me (the day before the Portsmouth game in Sept 2008) and did ask lots of questions about the Club's history and why it exists. When you buy a football club you have to understand what's made it an institution for generations. You are merely the current owner/director/Chairman - you need to look after it and treat it properly.

Yet, despite Khaldoon's interest at the start and all the positives the media still assume that all 'foreign owners' are the same and that City's are perhaps the least caring (especially if you read the rubbish spouted by Colin Shindler etc.).

To me City's current chairman and owner are more interested in preserving City and respecting tradition than most of their predecessors.

I genuinely feel sorry for Cardiff (and Portsmouth and other clubs messed up) - all owners whether English or not need to respect the club's traditions and values.

The problem with our owners is that they are the exception which seems to prove the rule. Like everyone else, I feel a curious mix of humble, grateful, can't-quite-believe-it's-my-club, ecstatic and several other emotions I can't put into words towards our owners. They have just been fantastic in every way imaginable. Forgive the pun, but when it came to owners we have truly struck oil.

That cannot be said of many other foreign owners. Anyone fancy the rags owners? Or the dippers? Pompey? What about Wimbledon's, who ended up selling their club to Milton Keynes? We dodged a bullet with thaksin. Other clubs may not be so lucky.

I wonder whether part of the reason our owners are so brilliant is because of who they are. From the little I know of royal families in the middle east, I understand one of the more fundamental aspects of their collective character is a deep sense of responsibility towards their people. That is a characteristic, if there is anything in the point at all, that may not be shared so much by a self-made billionaire for instance. If you are brought up from a young age to understand that with tremendous privilege comes tremendous responsibility, it is easy to see why the man-love inducing handling of this club since the take over would follow from that. If you are taught from an early age that life is a constant war where you fight for everything and you keep fighting so it isn't taken from you, I won't whether you would have the same deep respect for an institution that you became the owner of, or whether you would treat it as "my club, I'll do what I like with it."

When people call us the lottery winners, I'm sometimes inclined to agree: but not because of the depth of their pockets, but because of the deep respect which they show a club that has been part of Manchester for over a century; respect which I do not see being readily duplicated in Cardiff, I am sorry to say. Or in Stretford. Or in Wimbledon.

lol are they going to take all the blue seats out?

reds just wrong.... unless its has black stripes to go with it.

Football clubs have changed their colours at length over the last 125 years. That is why the green and gold comedy movement gained momentum. It was a previous set of club colours which supporters felt they could identify with.

Leeds, Coventry, Liverpool have all done this in the last 50 years. I agree it's disappointing but to say it spells the end of football as we know it is absurd.

Leeds changed to white over 50 years ago, Liverpool's change was on a par with ours (only shorts & socks though they have kept them red since '65) and Coventry have changed many times but usually keep light blue, navy blue and white in their home kit

Many teams change colours but I can tell you all one thing for definite, if we changed to red I would not support Manchester City any more. I remember when Joe Corrigan had to change his shirt at half time (probably a colour clash). He came out wearing a red shirt towards the North stand. The first thing he did was pick up some mud and rubbed it all over his chest. ( to cheers all round).
