Fulham (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Oh really...and you don't know the meaning of 'pepinazo' in a purely footballing context? This IS a football forum is it not..

As a Spanish speaker of four decades I can say that they are correct, though, you may not have picked up the alternative meaning as it has really just caught on widely with the youngins recently, largely due to emojis becoming part of the common language. I really hadn’t realised it myself until a few years ago when my nephew started laughing uncontrollably at me on a Zoom call for his birthday after I commented on something in the background of his video.
No, I knew both meanings but as we were talking about Julian's 'thunderbastard' (with a dubious but amusing Spanish translation) I thought I might add a better footballing colloquialism

That was a hard watch , very tired boys out there , sloppy as fuck

But top of the league !!
Not to nit pick but I'm not sure why Pep waited so long to bring in Bernardo and Foden for Alvarez and Mahrez. Alvarez had done his job. Bernardo's presence in the midfield helped put the game to bed and provided Rodri and Gundo with some much needed help. Foden was much more aggressive in pressing and defending than Mahrez who IMO was not on top of his game today. He seemed to struggle against A Robinson's speed and aggressiveness.

All is well that ends well! Enormous win, piling that much more pressure on Arsenal.

Tbh I thought it was great, lovely first half and City really dug in 2nd half as leggy, the last 15 really closed out the game well.

This game was a potential banana skin navigated, a game against a team playing under no pressure so FFC could play freely.

Their keeper played very well in spite of all that.

2 home games now to push on.

The remaining games have pressure on the opposition and we are equipped to deal with that type of game.

A tough one after Arsenal. Rested De Bruyne and Bernardo and got 3 points so job done. Very tough game but stuck at it and saw it out well. Plenty have had a rest in the last few weeks but would be good for Foden to come in and Grealish have a rest in the next.

Thought in general we played ok, but Fulham were really there to make it hard for us. Their left back I’d be really interested in, plus tosin coped very well with big erl. All that said we never really looked bothered and considering Kev and Bernie missed then a very good result.
