Fulham (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Not sure we were nearly as bad as some of you are making out. They're a decent side, we created loads of chances, they created fuck all, I would have preferred a bit more control but we had loads of character and steel. Arsenal would have drawn that game.
No, I think we were sloppy. Too many passes just a bit short, lacked composure and pretty toothless going forward. I'd say it was a stinker tbh.

Seeing the stats I see that we were not that crappy generally and I should not be that nervous during game :)
But I guess it's the last feeling because of the 2nd half which was indeed crappy.

Great goal from Alvarez, worthy of the three points. Thought we did well in the first half but the defence was a little shaky. Second half was a tough watch, would have liked to have seen Bernardo and Foden brought on a little earlier but we got the all important points. Feet up for a day and recovery before what I am sure will be a physical battle against West Ham.

Brilliant result.

Hope the last 30 minutes have disabused people from the idea Pep should start the same "best" XI every 3 days. It would be suicidal to do so.

Rotation may be risky, but no rotation is more risky.

Line-ups vs W Ham and Leeds will be interesting. We can't afford to get tired in the 2nd half in Madrid.

And Breathe....

That was uncomfortable viewing for me. This is normal for me though, I have an irrational fear we will fuck it up. I have said before, we older Blues never, ever, take things for granted. We poor fuckers are scarred from the Yo Yo years ;-)

Players were tired today after a monumental mid-week game. All that mattered today was the 3 points, and we got them.

Onwards and upwards Blues.

Top of the League again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A little bit of Sergio in his strike
A little bit of Carlos in his stride
A little bit of Kev to take the lead
A little bit of Goater’s what I see
A little bit of Zabba in the sun
A little bit of Kinky all night long
A little bit of David, beats his man
A little bit of Alvarez destroys your plan!

Messy, sloppy, tricky - but job done. Fulham showed how you have to play against us - work hard, take some risks, niggle and have a goalkeeper making some good saves, On another day some of our sloppy passing would have been punished - yet against another keeper we would have rattled in 4 or 5. But, apparently we are sooooooo boring!

Alvarez was superb - he works hard and took his chance well.
Halaand led the line well - without ever looking like scoring other than the penalty.
Midfield struggled to keep control
Grealish varied from brilliant to irritating - he needs to take his chances and be careful of being drawn into fights.

A scruffy second half but that is exactly what Fulham wanted
Grealish's finishing is awful. I think any of our other forwards would have scored at least one of those excellent opportunities
Their keeper made four top quality saves and their goal apart, we didn't concede any real chances

Overall a great three points a a well ground out win
