Fulham (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

A professional performance that got the job done. Decent goal from Gundo and Gonzalez again highlighted the mystery of why he's been sat on the bench so much in the last month - I don't get it and many others don't either. If that was Edersons final game as it seems, he made a couple of crucial first half saves to keep our goal clean.

Considering we won 1 league game in a 13 game stretch, finishing 3rd is quite remarkable tbh. Credit to a team on its last legs and badly in need of a reset.

Now it's time to get to work. A new GK, 2 genuine full-backs and 3 quality central midfielders are the minimum requirement.

A ballpark guess - Ederson, Walker, Stones, KDB, McAtee, Grealish & Kovacic are offski. I'm hoping Nunes is too as he simply isn't good enough - watching him dribble the ball out of play this afternoon with nobody near him made me laugh however. Reis probably needs a loan move so with that calculation Pep gets his reduced squad but hopefully a vastly improved one. We badly need some real quality adding and not projects, rough diamonds or "might be in a few years" players.
Nunezs only mistake far away from goal, and created the first…just saying

Not the greatest of seasons, but we can't win it every year, just a shame haaland didn't have the balls to take the penalty in the final, he scores that we win the FA Cup
It was a great save to be fair. It happens. I still believe it was more to do with the sending off that never happened was the reason we didn't win that.

Only 20 pages after securing 3rd place and a CL spot. We must be right whinging bastards when we lose a game, shudder to think how many pages this would be if we lost and finished in 6th!
I'd avoid todays match day thread mate.

Poor season, CL qualification is an excellent conclusion given all circumstances.

Put this season in the past and forget it... move onwards. Seven or eight players out in the summer, four or five in.

Get it right and the PL will be ours again at the end of 25/26.

Up the Blues!
Sorry but I think you're going to be hugely disappointed. The reason for our "poor" season was a horrendous injury list, with two key players out for the season and many more out for various periods. We have a fully fit squad with an "average" injury list and we probably win the title again, Liverpool won it with lower than average points compared to what we normally get.

You might see half a dozen leaving but you probably won't see may coming in our "new" players are:
Rodri
Bobb
Foden, when he's back to form
Vitor Reis
Khusanov
Gonzalez
Marmoush
Echeverri

...and probably a couple of the EDS lads coming through. I'll be surprised if there are more than a couple of key signings, especially if Pep wants to keep the squad size down.

Far too many on here don't give this squad the credit they deserve and completely fold when we have a bad result. I stay away from this thread most of the time, it's pathetic and embarrasing. I've seen City "fans" slagging the team off even when opposition fans have praised us and admitted they were lucky even though we've lost. Cup final was a classic example.

A good win for us. I thought Gundo played excellent today. He's better when Nico G is out there with him. Of course, sad for Kev leaving. He's done everything for us that we could of ever asked. and more. But, we must play faster. The game is more uptempo and direct. We need players with that skill and mindset. The days of endless recycling of the ball are over.

On the out: Grealish, Stones, Bernardo, Ederson. We sell Walker and Lewis, finally. I think we look to loan out McAtee.
Bring in: Reijnders, Rodrygo, perhaps Livramento and Eze. I doubt Pep brings in more than 4-5 new players.

I hope Foden takes care of himself this offseason. Work on his mental health.

Yeah but we weren't to know that. Newcastle bottled it & Villa could've/should've won.

We lent on our experience and have got the job done in the last two games.
We weren't, but on form (ours and the others), it was highly unlikely that every result was going to go against us. It needed a lot to go wrong for us NOT to qualify, hence the reason we got through with 5 points to spare.

I thought 68 would be enough but I was wrong about the final day results, I actually thought Forest would have beaten Chelsea, that would have taken us out of reach of both clubs.

I really hope Ederson is not leaving, hes so underrated for our game.

We wont buy 2 fb, dont think Pep likes it. Reis and Khusanov too early to say anything, they showed some talent and promise. CBs who could play back 3. You re too harsh on Nunes and today been very good, not to laughed at.

Reijnders looks good, would be good signing. Kovacic stays I hope, hes great squad player. City's best player this season, who else could be, Gvardiol, first half of the season Haaland?

Maybe Gundo out, probably Grealish.

Interesting thing with KDB. I think the replacement must be better than Marmoush to make impact. So thats the challenge. Would love to see determined Jack to own the spot, but does not look like he has it in him or that hes gonna get another chance.

exactly this. All the "fans' in the pre match thread who criticise everything, disappear after the match if we get a result.

Yep, they're in every thread before the game slagging the club and near every player but then we win and they're no where to be seen...

Although I think they're in the Wirtz thread saying how crap the club and the players are...

Bloody hell even you must want a couple of fullbacks.

It was only a shit season when compared to the few before. Our bar is incredibly high. We have to get used to not winning the title every year. Top 3 this season was very respectable without the ballon d Or and ongoing injury issues for Stones and Ake plus Kev benched in many games. No Bob. All in all we finished just behind the runners up. Pep will know what's needed to make a challenge next season. I have every confidence in him and the team.
