Either Peps game management is awful or we don’t have the quality to see out games from the bench

It might be both. Pretty clear that right now, a number of the additions over the last year+ aren't good enough. But Pep continues to play some of them, so it's on him too.

But why do we insist on taking 3 or 4 players out of the game with a half assed, tired, high press when we are stuffing a team, instead of just holding now and again?

His shot was going miles wide and took a huge deflection. He general passing and decision making is awful.

Stones is done for me he can’t defend he is a passer of a good ball who can run into midfield when we have full control any games like today he is a liebility

Yeah that was a mad one.

The club gambled yet again on Rodri being fit. He wont be until next season.

So to take off our only DM was a head scratcher. Maybe his balls were injured?

That doesn’t feel like a win.

We need to sort the defence out. Khusanov was starting to look immense before he got injured - surely time for another run.

We’ve been through this before with Josko when he played every game, was clearly getting physically and mentally exhausted and needed a break. A game or two on the bench might do him some good.

There is far too much cocking around in our own third under pressure and giving the ball away cheaply. We’re not winning anything doing that.

We look immense on the break but shite at the back - it’s like the early days of the first Keegan season where it seemed like we either scored 4 or conceded 4. Makes for an exciting game for the neutral but appalling for the the health of any Blue.

Off to bed for an early shift now but not feeling like I normally do after a win.

He was very sloppy on the ball tonight. Don't mind him losing it if he's taking players on but his passing and general play was off tonight.

However you could say that about pretty much all our players.

He was sloppy but he scared Fulham to death! At 2-5 with those subs by pep though you can say pep would expect them to see the game out and maybe score another!

Yeah we scored 5 but that was Gash.
Spent the 1st half giving the ball away (especially Doku) and then went into full panic mode 2nd half with Abysmal substitutions both in terms of personnel and timing.
It was reminiscent of the Real capitulation in 2022 (but that was top level Real)
There are players out there who are simply not good enough Nunes,Savinho, Reijnders, Doku plus flappers like Gvardiol
We need some real men in the team who can lead.

I think you're both right. He didn't score. It was hitting the corner flag. He did get an assist. And he lost the ball a ton. A real mixed bag.

Either way he was involved in his goal. Doku Haaland Foden as the front 3 we went riot and scored 5

Our tactical system is also broken, and that has nothing to do with individual talent. Our press is the worst in the league. Our movement and passing out of the back lacks structure. You don't need to buy players to fix those.

That pressing thing baffles me, i know Erling will never be a very good presser ,but that could be so much better. Everyone are a little late to every ball or are totally in the wrong positions. Been saying it whole season that Peps teams have always pressed very well ,not happening at all and that takes away much of our control of the game.

It's a good point - the high press was so poor, it should have been changed.

Why did Pep watch Bernardo struggle, then bring of Nico. I’m genuinely confused at the decision to bring Nico off.

43% possession. we arent tiki taka any more. we are a collection of decent playmakers, a brilliant striker but a mediocre midfield and defense.

we used to be defensively brilliant high up the pitch, suffocating the opposition. Now you can carve through us so easily and get a shot off. hit the target last season and you’d score: this season we just have a better goalie. I dont think much else has changed

Any combination of Nico, Bernie, Kovacic, Cherki, Foden, Reijnders is a defensively weak midfield

Caicedo, Rice, Zubumendi, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Enzo Fernandes, Reece James, Sobozlai, Wharton, Anderson, Gimares, Tonali, even Bruno Fernandes walk into our first 11.

The first time I’ve watched us score 5 and still almost fucked it up, got a banging headache now from shouting.
Buy 2 fullbacks ffs, and some midfield strength.
