Fulham (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Sometimes teams play shit and win. We are second in the league and top scorers. Problem is we have a strongish first 11 but after that we currently struggle. Take Nico O’r, he is 20 and looking knackered. We bought RAN as first choice LB but he is so far behind Nico at the moment that we would see the difference.
Our press is shocking because big Erl doesn’t really help us so players are being pulled out of position too easily. We might as well retreat to the halfway line and press from there rather than higher up the pitch.
But Fulham scored four goals from six shots on target, they won’t have such a high percentage conversion rate all season.
It also doesn’t help that nobody is prepared to rush out to the edge of the box to close anyone down.
Everyone needs to have a good look at themselves and ask if they are really 100% committed. We appear to have no leaders out on the pitch to stamp their authority on the game.
On a positive note great that Erl has hit 100 goals, Phil is almost back to his best and Cherki looks the business going forward, defensively not sure yet. Three points though, we move on.

Dias couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery.
Needs benching. Slow, weak in the air, need a commanding CB. Not the same player he was a few years ago. But just not him, i like Nunes but we need a top proper RB and jury is out on our new left back atm as the little we have seen of him, he is oftem out of position.
But 2 new top, strong physical midfielders are urgently needed.

usual “happy clapper” nonsense. As always, it’s normal (as I did say) to discuss the errors made but at the same time some reactions such as yours are extreme and I feel sorry for people like you who took no enjoyment from it as you have clearly lost what the game is about. It’s not all about winning every week, having it all your own way. It’s ups and downs. Why let the downs get you so annoyed?
"Extreme"

That's cheered me up at least

Awful performance

Spineless again from so many players...but the main issues persist.

Reijnders....besides the 30secs around his goal he did fuck all....go watch the game again...it just passes him by..he is walking most of the time while players like Bernardo and foden sprint around trying to win the ball back...he offers literally nothing

Donarumma - who were the people telling me over the summer that he is fine under the high ball when I said he was weak with crosses.....its literally every game he is costing us a goal or nearly costing us...he is an amzaing shot stopper but for someone who is 6,5 he is the biggest soft arse ever...if he had an ounce of Edersons bravery he would be world number 1

Fullbacks - both are an issue...NOR tries but he is getting done time and time again...Nunes we know the issues....

Stones came on (and I understand why Pep tried it - Nico G was on his last legs) but he can barely run.....again I said he should have been replaced over the summer

Savihno - sorry but Im done with him....he was through on goal and he bottled it and then tried to buy a foul....he should be in the reserves and nothing more

Pep cannot change this as he doesnt have the players to do so....rodri getting fit gives us more options but that aint happening quickly.....

If Arsenal dont win the title it will be the biggest bottle job in the history of football as we simply are bang average and should be nowhere near them

Yep

Bluemoon at the moment

We won
But we're still shit
We're second
But we're still shit
We scored five
But we conceded four and we're still shit
Once again we won
Yeah but donnaruma, nunes, dias, gvardiol, doku, savinho, bernardo, pep, his assistants, the subs, the kitmen, the bus driver are all still shit and we'll probably get relegated.

Rinse and repeat.

We need two holding midfielders. We are far to open in midfield
He was sloppy but he scared Fulham to death! At 2-5 with those subs by pep though you can say pep would expect them to see the game out and maybe score another!
As with arsenal away taking doku off removed an effective fast and physical outlet ball. It was bonkers management. If he was replaced by cherki or even Marmoush you could understand it but Sav just isn’t up to speed right now

I will say -- in Pep's defense -- Nico needs a rest.

Now I don't know that Stones to DM is how I would give him a rest, but he needs a rest. He's too important to the team to risk having him ground down to nothing by the end of the season. If you can't give him a rest in a 5-2 game, well then, maybe it doesn't matter because we're clearly not winning anything.

Now why we don't have cover for him even with Rodri recovering is a different question, and one that comes back to the same guy that wouldn't sell Savinho for 70M. I like Kovacic, but with him injured, we had to bring in someone to fill that role. We didn't. (FWIW, I would like to see NOR getting some time in the midfield. Need his athleticism and strength.)
