Going to put a majority of that down to tiredness. Nico G shouldn't have gone off and should have had Ake on before. At 5-2 (I think) that Haaland header that hit the post seemed to not matter, how crucial would have that been.
Rodri can't be back quick enough though to help these out. We really lack any control in between the defensive and midfield area where he excels so well. Donnaruma has to do better with some of the crosses and even the Gvardiol clearance at the end.

That's a more measured assessment which makes a refreshing change. I think we need Khusanov in there too, not sure if he's injured still or what but with him and Rodri in there we see a different side I think.

We know Nunez is not a defender and I've never been convinced by Gvardiol in that role either, but that last minute goal line clearance deserved to win the match on it's own.

Sometimes the opposition need a little praise.
Yes they had 22 legs in the second half against about 12, but the finishes for Fulham were brilliant.
I am worried about Bernardo but more so Stones , he is afraid to sprint , worried about an injury.
Hopefully o reilly will get a go further forward, and khusanov get a go in the back 4 , at least more speed.

A brilliantly entertaining game to watch, and some fantastic goals from both sides. Erling’s opener was a real thunderbastard, as were both of Phil’s. I thoroughly enjoyed it, though the final few minutes were rather nervy.

A great start, and at several points in the game, it looked like the points were secured. However, full credit must go to Fulham for making it a fabulous spectacle.

But, in the end, we won, and that’s all that matters.

That was a Christmas period game a few weeks early!

A game like tonight’s gets the blood and heart going, can’t wait for the next few weeks. We will find out where we stand league wise in the coming month and by the time January comes have a fair idea what we have to do, bearing in mind we historically do well each and every season from this period onwards.
