Fulham (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

One thing I am still massively pissed off about this game is the 2 off the ball fouls in the first half against Earling. Pawson just waved away the first one like he didn't see it, but it was a definite foul and the lino should have given it.

The second one I was fuming. For my money it was a deliberate attempt to injure him and it should have been a straight red card. No place for that, and their player knew he'd got away with it.

Out of the eleven starters we have 2 top quality players in Haaland and Foden - the rest range from average to good with not much on the bench. We may well struggle to put teams away but we are not out of this by a long chalk. Keep the faith.
PS We have also been without the best player in the world for most of the season.
Is everyone going to hang their hat on 'Rodri' & 'Kovatic' coming back, might never happen! Poor recruitment to have no midfield players who can do the business (the 6 second win the ball back rule) Pep built his reputation on.

Don’t disagree - I just think we may never see “the old Rodri” again and Kova similarly - finding a replacement will be tough.

After reading the first three pages Im going to hold back what I actually want to say about the frauds in the forum. Im starting to think there needs to be some sort of proper vetting being done for people to participate in game threads. So Im gonna just hold back for now.

I’d be sniffing round Guimares if Newcastle. Can play the 6 or 8. Is tidy on the ball can see a pass, tackle and score. Reminds me of Ferna. More attacking and then as he ages would become more defensive and more of a sitter.

People forget that Ferna was playing far more advanced for Shaktar and was more of an all round midfielder than the media credit him for.

Positives foden looks almost back to his best
Erling getting more involved and pressing a bit more,
Doku before he was subbed scared em to death despite his end product which was ok
And a fairly decent first half.
Finally Nico orielly another decent game although tired second half.
Negatives and there are many
Reinders although only his first season just not good enough, nowhere near involved as much as he should be.
We have a midfield that cannot win 50/50s
They are so weak in the tackle and at one point a Fulham player managed to win the ball 3 times from 3 different city players
The defence is the biggest problem here
With Dias the main culprit.
I firmly believe that most teams no longer fear us like our title winning years
in those years our defence had little to do as we had mostly 60% or more possession
That fear has gone.
Watching Dias come charging out of defence failing to win a single header all game then turn his back and open his legs to every shot at goal was alarming.
I honestly think pep is gone end of this season and only stayed on due to his promise
Of sticking with it till the 115 is sorted.
There’s just no explanation from a manager as good as pep that he would constantly bring on savihno who he must know is bang average at best, it’s almost as if he’s just giving people games for the sake of it to keep em happy.
Fulham concentrated on the left hand side when attacking and I think most if not all their goals started from that side yet pep didn’t react so nunes had a torrid time
The drop of in quality from the treble winning side is unreal.

The difference being Leeds defenders were putting their bodies on the line.

Ours put their hands behind their backs and turn to avoid getting hit.
There's a reason we do this.

Because too many times we've given away penalties for handball when players have been deemed to be in an unnatural position despite their best efforts to avoid the contact, and yet opposition players are allowed to throw whatever shapes they want to block the ball. The PiGMOL don't need much of an excuse.

May I suggest you look at the 2-minute clip on the OS - Fulham's second half goals came from OUR left side - Nunes doesn't play on that side so perhaps the criticism should be levelled at O'Reilly

I think that last minutes line clearance more than made up for anything you are blaming him for.
I wonder, come the end of the season will that moment be as important as John Stones (was it?) hooking the ball off the line against l'pool a couple of seasons ago on the way to winning the league? Or am I dreaming daft things?

When Savio got that ball in our D when it was 5-4 and ran through to the half way line just to give it away with 30 seconds left I swear I broke the Guinness world record for the amount of expletives used within a 5 second period.
It was infuriating cos hed actually done everything right. Didnt panic and hoof it, controlled it and brought it out. I thought ‘well played’ then he just ran straight in to them and turned it over. He’d done the hard part!

To spend the last 20 mins grimly hanging on after scoring 5 before the hour takes some doing. Supporting City has always been a special kind of fun.

City are back, hello; Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, we’re off to Mexico; Sack the board, sack the board; You’re not fit to wear the shirt; Sha la la la Summerbee; Truman’s for Steel.
You forgot The End Of The World Is Nigh.
