Since Jol got the chop they've looked a much better team and the 4-1 defeat they suffered at Everton last weekend flattered the blue Scouse. Apart from that sublime 4-1 under RM we also never seem to look overly comfortable there.

Saying all that, if we are going to win the title this is the kind of game we need to be putting away. I think we will but it'll be the usual tight 2-1, Dzeko like last season to feature amongst the goals I reckon.

This 1 all day.

This with Boyata in at right back
The lad needs some game time and it's the right match for him to start

I can't agree with that. Last night showed how much we rely on the fullbacks getting forward to aide the attack. Boyata is a solid full back but offered nothing going forward, against better teams we will not be as threatening, therefore I would have to play Jimmy.

-- Wed Dec 18, 2013 8:35 am --

This with Boyata in at right back

That's exactly why he should start in this game
We have an awful lot of attacking talent in that team.
Fulham are having a torrid time
Boyata needs game time

It is the perfect game for him to start to raise his confidence and to get up to speed with what's required
If he doesn't start in a match such as this, then there's no point in having him around

Good line ups but Hart won't play

Personally I think he'll be back in first team on Sat, Pants wasn't overly convincing against Arse and I think MP will feel the time is right for Joe's return.

More fluid

I'd let hart back in the team Pants was awful against Arsenal

Yep. This would be mine too.

Id also except Clichy RB and Kolarov at LB but Milner is good enough to fill the void....

Love the top team, though I'd be tempted to swap Boyata for Milner or we lose pretty much all attacking threat that Zab would have otherwise provided.

----------------------Hart----------------------
Rodwell--Komp-----Demich---Clichy
--------------Yaya------Fern-----------------
Navas-----------Silva----------Nasri------
------------------Negredo--------------------

Subs: Pants, Boyata, Lescott, Milner, Dzeko, Jovetic, Kolarov

Fulham will probably swamp the midfield with Parker, Sidwell, and Karagounis, so expect a tight game in the middle with some agrarian tackling. Another early goal and high tempo should lead to more space in the latter stages.

Hart
Milner/Facey Demichelis Lescott Clichy
Navas Dinho Yaya Nasri
Merlin
Beast
Subs: Pants, Vinnie, Rodwell, Garcia, Kolarov, Jovetic, Dzeko (7 Subs! :D)

Dzeko needs to start this one, between him and Negredo, he's the more effective goal scorer away from home plus has the advantage of having a particularly good record against Fulham.

If the game is close or 0-0 after 60 then bring on the beast.

Dzeko at this point has earned the right to play back to back games again.

+1, he needs to keep playing well in the cup games before we drop the beast. I mean, It'd hardly be selection on merit, would it? thanks negredo for all your goals and assists, there's the bench.

The full backs won't be as important going forwards if we go one up front, with Navas, Silva and Nasri all playing there should be a bit more natural width anyway. And since Kolarov will probably be playing, he'd provide plenty on the left, with Navas on the right, should be plenty of threat out wide.
