Anyone remember this? 1986?

No one could give a toss, quite frankly but it was Wembley against Chelsea. In the end we lost 5-4 in what was quite an exciting game.

My point is that I think it could be the same on Sunday. Potential for the same kind of apathy, but the event in the end will justify peoples efforts, especially if we bag the first trophy of the season at the expense of them.

If you're still undecided, do it!

I was there, and I don't think it compares in any which way to Sunday's game.

'the few members cup final' was a bit of a swizz, although a lot of people turned up for it.. not all of them hearing the final whistle of course

;o)

We should have had at least one penalty as well. Not that I'm bitter. Although the grass was in Chelsea's favour and the linesman was a friend of the cousin of a bloke who lived near a Chelsea fan. Still its in the past. I wish people would get over it.

Not another thread on this subject! Fuck me! Alls you've done is given it a different title but it'll be the same kind of posts that fill it as all the other Community Shield threads!

I was there, I left when we was 5-1 down so missed our last 3 goals.

You know what will happen on Sunday, whoever wins will get the so called experts saying "putting down a marker for the season" and whoever loses "it was just a friendly, means nowt". I'm not apathetic about it, I hope we win of course but there will be too much emphasis put on the game by everyone apart from the two teams involved I reckon, not including the fans of course.

yep

and i will never forget our kid and me running back to the coach after the game they had a market stalls and i was infront of my brother and duck under the stall but he did not see the iron bar and ran into it funny funny funny

also we was on the a coach with helen ring your bell and she took no shit from anybody

great days

Result shit but trip ace, sure we played utd on the sat then chelsea the sun - wouldnt get that nowadays.

For some people near me at the time we had a party at a n others house and the mother came home to find us dancing round the house in her dresses - party stopped there and then. Went down the next morning on the train with the same people blues and reds alike.

So the result was shit but ace weekend! Happy days.

I was there, I remember we were outnumbered by Chelsea fans 3 to 1 and if I recall you could pay on the day.
Is my memory playing tricks or did Tuert nearly equalise in the last minute, hit the post or something? If you had the injury time we do now City would have gone on to win by two clear goals, Chelsea were out on their feet.
I also remember coming away from the ground, with my Dad running back to our car, to beat the traffic, and my Dad tried to jump onto a low wall to dodge the crowds of Chelsea fans on the pavement, unfortunately he caught the side of his shoe on the wall and went headlong over the wall sideways, I swear it was just like Del Trotter at the bar! Hundreds of Chelsea fans burst out laughing, and I didn't know whether to stop to help, keep running with embarresment or just PMSL. It was hilarious and every time I see that scene I remember that day, Dad was fine despite the four foot drop on the other side of the wall.
