One of the great things about that film is that none of the players were rags. Can you imagine if they made it today, it'd be riddled with the buggers.

Seeing where their fan base is situated, they'd have to set any remake during the Vietnam war. The Pele story was true, by the way. After the first couple, he told Stallone where he was going to put them and alternated which foot he took them with.

There's a good story about Stallone in Escape To Victory. During filming he was convinced he was a shit hot keeper, and bet Pele that he could save more penalties than the world's greatest player could score for a significant amont of money. Pele proceded to put 10 past him without reply. Dunno if it's true, but I like it anyway.

I have also heard that story, Sly was a right tool apparently.

Heard it from Kevin Beattie, ex Ipswich and in the film for some mad reason
