Manchester City are set to step up their interest in Rogelio Funes Mori with a £10 million bid, according to reports in his native Argentina.
The 19-year-old River Plate starlet has also been linked with a move to AC Milan, and is regarded as an ideal prospect for City, whose top striker Carlos Tevez handed in an official transfer request last week.
However, the young striker is yet to impress in Argentina so far this season, scoring a mere four goals in 18 appearances for his club.
Mori's playing style is similar to that of Tevez, in that he refuses to give up (on the pitch) and gets involved in the action at every opportunity.
TalkSport revealed that radio stations in Argentina have claimed that Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and Milan are lining up £7m offers for Mori, but that City look likely to outbid them all by around £3m.
Seems daft to pay out 10 million for a striker who hasn't impressed at River Plate yet. Wonder if River Plate concocted this story.
Anyone seen him?
