G4 in a bit of a pickle again

They are a twat of a company.

We have a lot of them working at our place on a sub contract.

They have the same uniform as the regular staff but are on minimum wage and the majority are on zero hour contracts.

Someone said on a thread a while ago that there is no need for unions in this day and age. Well take a look at G4S and you would see a glimpse of what the workplace would be like without unions.

They don't bother with disciplines or investigations. If someone's face doesn't fit for whatever reason, they simply stop getting offered any work until they take the hint and resign. And there's nothing anyone can do about it while they are allowed to employ people on zero hour contracts.

What contract are G4S paying minimum wage on? most of the Gov contracts pay 7-9 squid an hour, also G4S do have a union, the GMB.

But how much of that would the employee get to see!

That is the pay, think it is about 7 squid an hour in the courts and 8 quid in the job centres for example.

Looks like Tory favourites G4 have made another cock up. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23272708

Never mind ay lads I'm sure a meeting with Dave and a nice donation to the party coffers will have it all sorted again.

And once they have had their wrists slapped with a damp Kleenex, no one will make the suggestion that the money should be repaid!

No refund has been asked for.

I will get back to you tomorrow if you're still interested in exactly how much they are on. I've heard them talking about getting minimum wage for doing the same job as the regular staff. Maybe they aren't been literal. I will find out tomorrow.

I know the GMB "represent" them. And I speak as a big union man, they are an absolute fucking disgrace. They would get more protection and back up if they joined the Wide Awake Club.

I agree with you, GMB are woeful and for the 11 quid a month membership seem to do nothing.

As much as I don't like G4, as a business manager with a degree in business and finance management i can tell you that this isn't actually true.
Once you have worked a specific/shift pattern for a set period of times - usually 12 weeks, then that actually becomes your contracted shift regardless of what you have or haven't signed.

In the real world your period of employment ceases a week before any "entitlement". This company has a long history of ignoring employment directives, being draconian employers and having "friends" at the very top who turn a blind eye to even the biggest cockups.
