Gabri Veiga

Not IMO.

Think that the player is very overrated, and he his agent tried to take advantage to shop him around.
Well yeah, if Txiki 'release clause' Begiristain didn't put in a bid in a year where we're crying out for someone in his position, and all the prices have gone mad, chances are he's not as good as everyone says.

Shame to see this one happen. Oddly linked to a lot of teams but no one really went for him. Napoli deal falls apart and he’s in Saudi almost immediately

So, Have I got this right (not just him)

Playing in front of small crowds
No world class international club competition (unless FIFA are upto no good), No CL
Chance for a drop off in personal standards therefore loosing international call ups
Possibly restricted lifestyle
Language

V

Loads of dosh (tax free)
Lots of sun and sand!
Less games a season (presumably)

I'd love to ask someone like Bernie ' if you could go back 5 years in time would you swap everything since then for another 30m?' I think I might know what Rodri would say.
I'm not in his shoes and have a different upbringing, so maybe can't appreciate why. Could be other reasons. Strange though. And while we are at it, I don't understand the business concept and from the Saudi point of view, what it achieves.

Mercenary, in it for the money, hence why no top club would go near.
Maybe. If Real, Barca, PSG etc. wanted him and he still wanted SA, then yeah, he’s a mercenary. Otherwise, he might as well take the coin, secure his family’s future and them go somewhere big when more experienced.

Going there as a young and up incoming player is not a good move is it?

Your soon forgotten in football.

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again, I see trouble at some point with a player falling foul of the authorities in Sadia Arabia! Something that makes them run across the boarder and sends a ripple and exodus of other “star names”.
I see someone doing something involving booze or girls or even seeing the way people are treated and speaking out. They'll then be feeling the wrath of the state. It’s a ticking time bomb for me and it'll explode at some point in the near future I’m sure. I get the lure of huge amounts of wealth but if they can nonchalantly kill an outspoken journalist, then some of these players moving over their need to watch their backs.
Living or working in Saudi Arabia is very different to the likes of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and even those are very different to here or Spain.
Time will tell.

I see where your coming from but I can't help but feel that all the saudi pro league players are going to have almost diplomatic immunity.
