Firmino is well ahead Jesus in all "works hard" related stats. Total distance, max runs, tackling, interception, etc.
Dipper alert!... Nothing against "Bobby" but Jesus is simply the better player already(more speed, better feet, more intelligent linkup play) and whether you agree with that or not you simply have to concede he's got massive potential for the future, the smart thing would be to play Jesus now get his experience up and his confidence.

Noticed Ali Mcmoist and ITV doing the Livepool bias game asking whether "has Jesus done enough for you" just before he said that(literally just before it) the most telling thing was there was a counter started by Willian who Jesus combined with beautifully 3 or 4 times to keep the move going but he failed to even mention his name during or after the move instead focusing solely on Willian. That seemed to me an obvious seed forcefully planted for the post match discussion on whether Firmino should be playing. Their arrogance knows no bounds, they know better than 99% of the Brazilian football fans about who should be playing? It's like they are playing a favouritism game based on how the casual PL football fans view it without having a clue how massive Jesus is over there.

We should just take comfort in the fact that so many of these pundits are sycophantic idiots that will be a thing of the past before long and we can look back and rip the piss out of how poor they were.

That passage of play you described ended with Neymar having a shot from outside the box with Jesus in acres of space to his right and well placed to shoot, a common theme.

It was a bit of a head scratcher. From memory, he'd shown some really clever attacking play, very good feet and accelaration in tight situations in the box to get away efforts on goal, at a time when Neymar and co were not producing much.

But honestly. Who gives a monkey's about Ally McBeal or the ITV commentators. Tyldesly and every single pundit were just embarrasing during the England game. I'd rather be watching it with a random selection from the wino's who hang around our town centre.

The issue is he's a striker and will be judged on goals.

Kane is scoring, Lukaku is scoring, Costa was scoring.

He's not played bad, but it's not surprising there are questions being asked about his starting place.

It is surprising if the questions being asked are by people watching the game it's quite obvious why he starts, it's also quite obvious why he isn't in amongst the goals.
Gabby has been quality so far this World Cup and as long as Brazil are in it he'll, start goals or no goals.

Liverpool fans vs. Gabriel Jesus seems like it might be a running theme. We all know how culty they are. Tite is going to stay on 4 more years and I don't see why he'd drop Gabby if this tournament is just a blip (which was caused mostly by shite play around him).

I look forward to them screeching in the corner for years to come as Jesus continues to play over Firmino.

Feck them. They can play firmino all they want in the PL and finish in their 4th place while we and Gab stay as champions.

If your supposed playmakers decide to be one-manning twats when a WC comes around it doesn't matter who you have upfront.

There's a few ways I see this planning out next season for Jesus.

1) He stays around that 7/10 level...he doesn't the things hes great at...defensive work, running, getting into the channels, quick linkup play, scoring his patented tapins with a small jump in total improvement.

2) The 'poor performance' from himself and from Brazil has him shook and he regresses to more of a backup player and doesn't look like our future phenom striker.

3) Pep lights a fire in him and he's more focused and motivated than ever and he makes a serious jump up in his third season in the prem.

Personally, I'd say what happened for Gabby was very good for the club. He'll be looking for a new contract and that could have gotten expensive had he shined. Now, we'll have him in here hopefully humbled and focused.

1) 30%
2) 15%
3) 55%

Something like that is how I'd place it. I'm confident that he's going to have a monster year for us.

Bloody good point. I'd forgotten about the contract situation. He could have come back a billy big bollocks asking for £200k a week, but yes, hopefully his non-scoring WC has hopefully served to make him simply want to prove just how good he is next season

I was really disappointed with him in the WC even with his ridiculous teammates Coutinho and Neymar never passing and, especially Coutinho, just going for glory shots from outside the box. But even so, he didn’t look himself at all but then didn’t really go hunting for it neither. He seemed to go into his shell as each game progressed.

Needs a good pre-season to refocus and needs to concentrate this year on improving every aspect of his game.

I’m still not sure what to make of him. I honestly don’t know if this lad is going to be elite or just a decent enough player. The whole world of footy very much overrates exciting youngsters, the reality for 75% of them is nothing like the initial hype.

I find myself turning all Roy Keane over Jesus.
Not for me.

I find myself thinking what a strange thing for a city fan to say, on the Jesus front though I hope he turns back into the player that played the firsdt ten games or so of his time with us, he looked lively and an attacking threat every time he received the ball, something that has seemingly gone missing in his game atm, I am talking about our games and not Brazil.

Big season for him. Does he step up and look like he can fill/replace Aguero’s boots, or does he continue to do ok with the ‘he’s only young’ tag echoing around him.

Love the lad, but time to step up a level or 3

Just going to post much the same thing. Not been hugely impressed with him since his comeback from injury. Let’s hope he shines next season.

A rest and some love from pep will have gabby back in form! Some extremely impatient and forgetful blues at times
