Gabriel Jesus - New Contract 2023

Still no mention of this on SSN, but Iwobi’s extension is one of the main articles and Souness’ “United ‘Bang At It’ to Stop City” article has been on the main page for literally weeks. In fact, there are quite a few Arsenal articles up on the main page right now.

The only mention of City at all is a click bait article entitled “Pep: I’ll learn a lot from Sarri”.

Perhaps having this go relatively under the radar is of benefit to us, though.

Somehow I doubt a Sterling contract extension will get the same treatment.

Update: it is finally a ‘sub-story’ on the main page, with Iwobi’s extension getting the bigger headline.
It was on their website 8 hours ago. That’s how I found out about it.

Terrible news.

That means we have to put up Gabriel for another five years at least.

It’s brilliant that we’re tying all these young players down for the best years of their careers

We really are laying the foundations for the next decade and hopefully beyond.

Feel last year he struggled a little, he needs a full year staying injury free he always seem to pick up long injures as he comes into form

He does the ugly side of the game so well, but still needs to show a little more, especially in the big games and the champions league

I can only attest to it not being on the site when I checked it on my mobile fairly quickly after our announcement (I happened to go on SSN before I logged on here), then it showed as a sub-story (buried) well below the Iwobi announcement on my last check via my iPad (hence the update). If it was a main story, it was dislodged very quickly (admitedly, not uncommon), and was below Iwobi’s extension article in the story order.

As I said, perhaps it is a good thing it is not getting more main page time, as other contract extensions have in the past.

I am curious, do you think a Sterling contract extension would get more exposure on SSN, BBC, etc.?

Only if he turns it down.

Great stuff, cracking lad is our Gabriel. He will have a breakout season before long but I don't think it will be this one on the back of a world cup, still got some filling out to do

Great news, one of the best young talents in the world and can get even better. To hear he wants to stay at city means we are offering him the best chance to progress, and he's comfortable here too, so we must be doing something right.

Him and sane I hope are two of our main attacking options for the next decade or so.

Also hope are see some more of him and Aguero together this season, it worked very well earlier last season and with Mendy back could be a viable option again.
