When do people think he will play?

I ask because I have the impression he will be handled like Sane, but from what I read here he is going to be playing the rest of the year and probably winning the title for us.
Maybe it depends on his physical condition. He got kicked left and right until now.

I think he'll get thrown in towards the end of January and what happens from there really depends on how he does.

I personally don't think he'll be treated like Sane at all, and I agree with you. This lad is ready to start for us immediately, he's already handled the pressure of playing as Brazil's number nine.

We can't expect the kid to play in effect a season and a half without a long rest in between,i wouldn't be surprised if we don't seee him till feb

Yeah... Late Xmas present!!

I wouldn't put money on him being on the bench then seeing as he'd be ineligible.

The transfer and registration can't go through until January 1st.

Will that not depend up on when his official loan ends?

He's not on a loan - he's not moved here yet, we've just arranged the transfer for a future date - exactly like Barcelona "bought" Neymar in 2013 but he didn't move until 2014. He wasn't a barcelona player until August 2014.

That's why Gabriel Jesus has flown in for his medical in Manchester today.

exactly, hes not some machine, players are human after all. Hopefully he gets big rest. Played non stop football since early 2016 pretty much. Throw in new country, new teammates, new style of play etc. It took Neymar a year to kick on at Barca for example and he was 21.

I was under the impression that part of his contract was a loan agreement, if that's the case then he can play at the end of that agreement... Might be wrong though!!

No he's on loan if I'm not mistaken. You may be correct Zin.

There is nothing official to say he is on loan, and I've looked quite thoroughly. And by official I mean from Palmeiras, us, or any FA/FIFA/UEFA etc. The offical press release said "he will stay until January" not that he'll be on loan.

He's also not listed as being on loan on our official site, despite all our other loanees being listed. And while not the definitive authorities, both Football Manager and Wikipedia don't have him listed as on loan either.

Also he wouldn't be coming here for a medical as reported today if he was already our player.

He signed the contract in August if I'm not mistaken...

As this report states, he signed a 5 year deal but will only be here 4 half years, I'd say reading between the lines that a caveat of the deal was city would forfeit 6 months of that 5 so he could remain in Brazil..

We'll see though, I'm sure the fanfare of details will commence after he's presented to the crowd on Saturday!!

There are loads of newspaper articles saying he signed and came on loan, just nothing official, and papers are often wrong about this kind of technicality. I guess we'll see if/when he plays before Jan. 2nd, doubt the presentation will enlighten us, but it should be good anyway.

February is exactly what I was thinking. He gets all of December and some off, then starts training a week or so into January.

Gabriel is flying to Manchester tonight!

Could be in the stands for the Chelsea game depending on Palmeiras.
But my Gabriel Jesus advent calendar is only on Day 1, he isn't supposed to come for another 24 days!

That's the Brazilian league for you. Football is tough over there, players get kicked about like fuck. Europe's proper soft compared to Brazil.
