Game of Thrones (season 8)

I’m not really sure what to make of that episode, Not to sound like a hater as I love the program but there were more negatives than positives that came out of watching that for me! As a battle it was definitely a half decent watch but how many times did one of the main characters get saved when they should of been killed? The whole NK situation was also wasted and they should of delved into that a little before having him killed, I'll have to watch it again and see if it's just me being overly critical of it.

A great watch, really intense, didn't mind the fog of war.
And an absolute betrayal of everything that bought us this far. In the cold light of day, from a show that bought us the red wedding, Ned's death, and so many other shockers..... that was utter drivel, pansy-arsed crowd pleasing shit.

I'm toying with going to see Endgame later on, I hope that has more bollocks to see through some actualy fucking character deaths.

Because on the basis of the end of Infinity War, Marvel is the one that looks all grown-up, and GOT looks like the sort of ending a five year old would write.

So many of the GOT character arcs were DONE. Finished. What is the point in keeping even half of them lot around? So we can have ANOTHER reunion at the end?

Never mind. I did shed a tear, I was horrified, and scared at points. And I was genuinely guessing until the end.

Great Television it may have been but as a recreation of a medieval/ancient battle there were too many mistakes.
The main problem was the Unsullid. They are basically a long spear/shield army. So most casualties occur as the they make initial contact with the opposition. It then becomes a battle of brute strength as one side pushes the other, with little or no space to swing a sword or other weapon. This push occurs till one side breaks after having enough - at which point mass casualties occur in the pursuit. The undead wouldn't give up and nor would the unsullied, (not for hours anyway). Only a flank attack would break the Unsullid and that wouldn't happen if later Scotish type shiltron defensive formations were used. Only cavalry and archer fire (or gunpowder weapons) can break the ranks of a force with high morale.
Tell that to the Spartans. Massive numerical advantage will always win out. All the defending force can do is delay.

I thought it was very good. Too many main characters survived but those that didn't went out in style.
Season 3 ep6 was The Climb. It was also when Mel had her first meeting with .........
It's been on the cards since then, and the clearest of all the character arcs. It became obvious when the weapon was handed over.

To be fair the Spartans at Thermopylae were betrayed by Ephialtes, who led the Persian forces around the flank, via a little known mountain pass. They stood up valiantly to the frontal assault.

It would have taken at least half a day. The sun would have risen high in the sky before the push battle would have finished with the Unsullid - even with facing the untiring undead. Whitewalker cavalry or the Night King on Viserion could have broken the line but they wern't used in this way and there were no undead archers!

They didn't need to push. Just ramp over them as they eventually did with the trench.
