Random thread but Mrs has hit list on in the background and with the sound overlays for TV, the contestants actually buzzed in before the song had even started playing in the first round when you have to rely on audio. From TV, they never actually played the tune! I notice this a lot in Pointless too, people seem like the greatest minds of all time in a few seconds.

The question is; Has anyone ever been on any of these time pressure quiz shows and how do they work? How much time do you have compared to the time that is shown on TV?

Seem to remember Osman saying on his podcast that the gap between the question finishing and the answer being given on House of Games is edited afterwards.

He did say it was generally elongated when someone answered straight away as he said he wanted to give the audience chance to answer it at home too.

I can understand that for sure. I am more interested about the time from the question being asked and the contestant answer. Sometimes, I have just understood the answers on pointless before the often very dopey contestants are firing in their answers.

The Chase is pretty clear in that they edit the intermissions to suit the raw quiz. Mastermind is raw. 15 to 1 was always raw

How long does a Pointless recording last?
How long does a Hit list recording last??

A quick Google suggests about 90 mins for a Pointless record.

remember that on Pointless the contestants get to see the question constantly yet the TV audience only get flashes of it,
