The cost of laptop parts for equivalent parts is more yes. And with all the parts squeezed together you are going to get more heat generated and more performance dips.

If you want an easy guide, pick a modern game you definitely want to play and take those specs as what you are aiming for.

There's an Asus TUF with RTX 4060 on with Argos currently at around £850 or so, or there was I think it's now sold out :(

Yeah, I've had a few gaming laptops and I've always found them really finicky. It's genuinely one of the reasons I stopped PC gaming and just got a PS4 and a Macbook. The last gaming laptop I got spent most of the two months I owned it in the Asus service centre because there was obviously some sort of interference between the touchpad and something else. A lot of these gaming laptops are really badly designed, so they look good on paper, but when you actually use them, they turn out to be shit. Meanwhile, my much less powerful entry-level Macbook Air can edit 4K video without issue, and without sounding like an aircraft taking off, and without losing all of its performance when you unplug it. Never having to deal with Steam again is another bonus. Absolute **** of a company.

Game pass cloud is terrible for me still in beta mode after years constant buffering what's all that about? Stopped using it completely shame as would get some use out of it.
