As with a one post yesterday, I wonder how many of these rumours would continue to be created if it was no longer possible to place bets on players being transferred to clubs by certain dates.

As also implied yesterday, the only reason that people (who are not in the media) bother to sit down at their computer and invent rumours are because they make money off them not coming to fruition. All motivation is financial in this case.

And before the fanboys start, I am not for one second implying that this is the case with TH (it may, however, be the motivation behind the people feeding information to him).

I think RM wanted them so IMO TH did not give any bad info.

IMO they were both players who we would only ever have been interested in if one of our first choice XI would have left.

Any interest that there ever was for Hazard, again IMO, disappeared once it was clear that Tevez wanted to stay and was prepared to put in the necessary effort (and that Milan were not prepared to spend money on him).

RVP, again, was someone who we would have entertained if Tevez would have looked to have gone after Hazard signed for Chelsea, but as Tevez's mindset did not change we didn't bid for him.

The reason I think the above is because there are 6 midfield / attacking positions for the huge games (our classico's, if you will). These are taken by Aguero, Tevez, Nasri, Yaya, Silva (none of whom would accept a secondary role) and one defensive midfielder (from Barry, NDJ & Rodwell).

You cannot justify paying the wages of these starters and transfer fees of 25m+ for new players, which is why we must look to players who are happy to play a secondary role for this season (such as Kolarov, NDJ, Balotelli, Dzeko, Rodwell, some central defensive cover), Rodwell and maybe someone to take over from Barry, and get rid of any potentially disruptive influences such as AJ, Ade etc.

I suspect Mancini has wanted to ditch Tevez since Bayern. However Tevez has realised his value elsewhere has waned, no one is prepared to stump up. Dzeko also seems to be unhappy with his "secondary" role, as does Kolarov. I dont think RM was expecting/hoping to start the season with Tevez and Dzeko and badly wanted RVP.
