And yet what did we learn from European club football last season? Or maybe I should say, should have learned? That English clubs can not match the physicality of top European clubs, particularly the German clubs like Dortmund and Bayern.

One of his assets is his power and strength which is why he can play in central defence and in midfield and is why he has played for Real Madrid, Benfica, City and still gets picked for the Spanish National Squad.

Defence is all about partnerships. Put Vidic alongside a slow defender, and he'd be done for pace time and time again. Put Garcia alongside Nasty, and we'd probably have a good central defensive partnership.
