Deserves a lot more credit than he ever got (his role at the end of last season was important to how strongly we finished, for one thing). Completely underestimated, unfairly criticised, his role misunderstood and it wouldn't be shocking if a surprisingly high transfer fee goes on to confound his biggest detractors.

I don't think another player has ever got less praise or more criticism for doing what he's meant to do, for the most part, very well. With an outstanding attitude on top of it.

I could more see what you meant towards the end of last season but honestly, if he was as good as you thought, we would be keeping him.

I think we were both a little wrong. I underestimated him you overestimated him.
I still think he's a good squad player, but we're now at a point where we can and should be making up squad depth with players that are Zuculini's age and younger. Garcia can do well as a starter for a club a tier below us or as a squad player for a club at the same tier that lacks depth.

Sad to see him go after he showed signs of improvement at the end of last year.. but Fernando is here and much better so he's just unlucky. We're getting a great fee if what's being reported is true.

We will lose a sexy player from a pretty handsome team, no Homo.

Disagree, he was shocking in his first season and was fairly criticised imo. He was excellent last season though and seems a nice guy so I hope he does well at Zenit.

I think Fernando will be a huge upgrade though especially in Europe against much better sides.

Did well second half last season but I think Fernando is a better, more athletic upgrade. Feel a tad sorry for him, he's mates with all the Spanish lads especially Silvs so it'll be a bit sad for him ...

So he is not with the squad? I assume therefore won't be with the squad travelling down for Charity Shield that will give an indication at least.

Has he definitely gone then?
Looks like he's gone for a medical at least.

Best of luck to the lad then,he did his best and contributed to our success,i cant fault anyone for that.

There were posters on here ,who said Garcia was an upgrade on De Jong when we were signing him,

When we signed Garcia I read a few things that made him out to be an awesome box to box player, so disappointed after the first few games of watching him.

He played well in his debut, I thought he was going to be great.

if Fernando is an upgrade then im not bothered if hes sold,,hes obviously a good player but for one reason or another it never truly worked out for him,he will soon be forgotten if Fernando is half as good as some say on here

I remember that pre season we were linked with De Rossi all summer and when we signed Garcia people were saying he was a younger, and potentially better version of De Rossi. How wrong that was!

Seems like a nice guy, goes with everyone's best wishes, but just wasn't the right type of player for us. Too slow and cautious with the ball. He'd be brilliant in Italy in a slower paced game, but despite one or two decent performances towards the end of last season, I just don't think he was a good fit for us.

Could sell Garcia for more than we paid for Fernando, even if Fernando turns out to be no better, it'd be good business.

Fernando is far better,at everything.

Awesome business,again.

£20+ million for Garcia and Rodwell that's some sexy business

It would be had we paid £15m for them.

As they cost us £30m ish and lots more in wages, it isn't great business for me.

Both were a complete waste of money despite Garcia looking semi decent last 6 months

Garcia and Rodwell cost us 28m combined.

It looks like we've sold them for an initial 22m, possibly rising to 26m.

It's not bad considering how poor value they've been whilst at the club.

I thought 16m would be the most we'd get for them.
