Just read this whilst lying in bed..
David Attenborough couldn't have worded it better..
It's like Springwatch meets the World Wildlife Foundation in your back garden Karen..
Your food bill must be enormous..!
Ha,i am so lucky to have all this wildlife, the decision to let them have the bottom half of the garden 20yrs ago paid off,it is a safe enclosed garden for them ,they know they are ok to have babies here
Food wise, the local green grocer that I get the bird food from gives me all the past it fruit and veg that he can't sell for free and I buy dirt cheap bread for them, they like things to play with, especially empty plastic water bottles, the sound they make when they squash them amused them greatly ,they bring all sorts into the garden in the night, the foxes like knicking things from gardens as well, there is always something new appearing in the garden that can't get in any other way
My fav badger is one of big males, after he eats he lies on his back and rubs his belly
Did you all know badgers can stand up on their back legs
Badgers are destructive if left to their own devices, they dug up my neighbours lawn a few years ago to build a sett, cost her a fortune to sort that out,by feeding them and giving them things to play with they don't cause me any problems, few holes under the fences is about it
The foxes are the opposite to the badgers as in they are easily spooked, they don't come anywhere near me,any noise and they run off, they bring their cubs out in the day later on in the summer and let them run about,no problems with my old cat at all,she used to sit quite happy and let them run around her
As well as that I have endless birds, squirrels, next door gets a duck on his pond
I am really pleased people are discovering nature in their gardens during lockdown,it is lovely to see life goes on in nature and I find it very calming in this difficult time
