Gareth Bale

He signs an extension, means Spuds get a lot more for him then if and when sold, anyways it means nothing.Remember Hamann signing for Bolton for all of 3 seconds.

It means nothing in the long term.

But it does mean that Bale will stay at Spurs this season - just in case there was any lingering doubt about that.

And it does secure Spurs' position with regard to getting a big transfer fee for him if and when he does leave.

-- Wed Jun 27, 2012 4:15 pm --

If City were willing to pay £24million for Milner then the price for Bale would be double that at least.
If Spurs were willing to pay £16 million for Bentley, then City would want double that for Ade.

Ade only has one year left on his contract, doesn't he?

Anything more than £10 million would therefore be a very decent price for him.

England actually won something 46 years ago but they won't win anything else in our lifetimes. Just because something happened once doesn't mean it becomes likely to happen a second time. This Bale mini-saga is 100% over until at least next summer.

I never thought it was ever on.

This was always a huge waste of time, just like the DDR thread. Levy won't sell Modric and Bale in the same window.

Now go see if Sao Paolo wouldn't be tempted with a large bid for Lucas Moura.

We could try promoting Denis Suarez who has shown himself capable as a left winger as well as an attacking midfielder lately for Spain U19. The "not ready" argument will be brought up but he'll be ready a lot quicker if we give him some opportunities (even as a late sub off the bench), and reduce the risk of him following Roman and inevitably (it seems) Guidetti out the door.

We may as well lock the thread for a couple of seasons. Not a chance we will be going in for him now he has signed a new contract. Spuds will want way too much.

All the skills in the world... and so little end product.

Would be brilliant for Arsenal.

There was a very small chance Gareth Bale could of ended up at City. Emmanuel Adebayor could of part of the deal which meant the two players swapped clubs with money exchanging. What scuppered the deal was Redknapp being sacked and the new coach didn't want Adebayor at the club.

You just described 99% of youth players.

What this also tells us that the Spuds have made a decision on the managerial position.

No way Bale would of signed a new contract without knowing the above.

He's outstanding for his level and stands out not only for his club but for Spain (the best footballing country in the world). And he's 18 years old, not 25, so he is not the final product but playing around some of the best players in the Premier League would see him quickly improve just like when Arsenal gave Wilshere a chance so young.

Fucking hell that yellow ticket on bale signs A new deal at spurs been on for about 2 hours shocking ;)

Wonder how much of an improvement in wages Bale got? Bet they just doubled his wages to 60k think top wack at spurs is around 80k

Liverpool fans are beyond deluded, They seem to think that Levy has offered Sigurdsson 70k a week and Tottenham's wage offer has "blown them out of the water".

This from the club that offered Joe Cole and Jovanovich around 180k a week combined and Andy Carroll on 90k a week If im not mistaken.

Outstanding at this level? I beg to differ.

Don't just take my word for it... or maybe you're suggesting Mancini can't spot a young player?

At HIS level, he's one of the most highly rated 18-year-old midfielders in Europe by scouts and we beat three of the top teams around (Real, Barca, Chelsea) to sign him. He recently got rave reviews playing for Spain U19 too out of his usual position on the wing.

Mancini gave him his City debut at the age of 17, all I'm suggesting is we try and promote from within even if he might not give the instant results a Gareth Bale type would but could save us a lot long-term.
