Bale is 3x the player Ben Arfa is and is about 3 years younger. If Ben Arfa was so good there would be a transfer frenzy for him now as everyone knows the Barcodes are a selling club and any of their players are obtainable for the right price. Yet you don't hear of City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid being interested in him...

I see your point, but Ben Arfa had only played one season in the EPL.

I am sure if he stayed fit next season, you will see bigger clubs coming for him.

And I said it in the other thread, Bale is better for counter attacking while Ben Arfa is better for teams who usually park the bus.

How are spurs a counter attacking team every side that goes to whl puts 10 men behind the ball. The only reason they didn't challenge us this season was there lack in depth there starting 11 is almost on par with us and bale is a major part of that team.

The last few pages of this thread are priceless - if one listens to the chairman and manager, 1, at a push 2 what would be called marque signings will arrive, we raised the bar considerably in the league this year and will better it next IMO, even with the current squad. Bale is a no brainer as he's integral to a European assault and is widely feared, in city's side he would be frightening, think early season counter attacking city and add this to the melting pot- yowser, we'd also have someone to keep up with yaya (:

Exactly, I think we're solid everywhere else, maybe a new central defender and midfielder, but in terms of us going forward, he would make a world of a difference. Such a skillful and quick player, unreal how good he is.

Yep it's about scoring more goals than the opposition we can always fill in with another defender at the back or even mica who is more than capable

I think Mancini would love him at city and there might be something in Tolmie's videos but Levy won't sell for anything less than 50m I reckon so can't see it

Well Mancini has praised Bale a lot in the press and there was a story in several of the papers a few days ago at how Mancini would love Bale but doesn't think Spuds will sell. I'd be VERY surprised after missing out on Hazard and Bale coming out in the press about considering his Spuds future after them missing CL if we weren't seriously pursuing him.

I'm looking at a midfield of

Yaya
Silva and Nasri as those deep-lying playmakers we need, but also licence to go forward. Kind of like Stephen Ireland, in that season
AJ and Bale as the chalk-on-your-boots wingers.
Rotation between the strikers. Sell one of them. 3 strikers for one position is more than enough.

The only problem being restricting Yaya. But this system gives us a much greater variety than relying on the big man to bail us out time and time again.
